Guest guest
, how long until you saw results with the prednisone. I do have age on my side in that fact (I am 32) I know I do not want to use it as a long term drug, esp since I am already overweight. amber **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
When they were first questioning my diagnosis they put me on 10mgs and it seemed to help my knee inflammation very quickly. They didn't leave me on it for over a month though because of my age and what it can do to bones. It can also a full face look, bloating and weight gain (which when they do that is hard on the joints). It's good she did something for the inflammation though while they wait to do more testing. I know being diagnosed in some cases, is a long slow process, but its good that they are starting something for you:) amber michelle <ambermich@...> wrote: i went, i really liked her. she took a good history, listened to me. She checked EVERY joint for problems with range of motion, s/s of inflamation, etc....half the doctors i have seen have never looked at my feet yet other joints. She wants to get copies of the blood test my reg doctor just did and then order me more test and xrays. she says i do have an inflamatory arthritis but not sure which kind .... hence the tests. She put me on 15 mgs of prednisone everyday for now and is going to have my test done and have me back in 2 weeks. does this seem standard?? she did more than most doctors combined already... the prednisone...... is 15 too low of a dose to have a " flare up " like this ??? when do u see/feel a difference with prednisone ??? What else should i be concerned with on my next visit? just seeing what the lab and xrays show? amber __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Amber:) I began to notice the inflammation going down in about a week. The longest they kept me on it was a little over a month and began tapering it down. They gave it to me since my RF was negative to see if I responded and based on my symptoms, if I responded they could tell it was inflammatory. From those I have talked with that has taken it, it seems to be a pretty fast acting medication. I hope it helps you feel better soon!! ambermich@... wrote: , how long until you saw results with the prednisone. Guest guest
hi amber, im soo glad you liked your dr. see dont ever give up.. it seems like you feel comfy with her so i would just so vent about anything & everything... what shes doing is standard & alot more than some drs.would do!! amber the prednisone will help tremendously!!! did she say how long you would have to be on it? i recently had a bad flare & she put me on 10mg of pred. for one week, then 5/2 in a half for the next week, then now im back on my regular dose, which is 5mg of pred...... i still have bad days but thats alright cuz i have a lil girl to think about, not just myself!!! no 15 is not low of a dose for what your going through,amber..... well for me amber it usually takes about 2 days or so but then again everybody is different!! as for my point of view,i would ask; how r my red & white blood cell count, cbc,(complete blood count). amber sometimes x-rays dont show certain things especially if they r not looking for it... you should maybe suggest a nuclear study, where they check your whole entire body fom head to toe... i just had one done & they found out, that i did not have spinal cancer PRAISE OUR LORD AND OUR SAVIOUR!!!!!!!!!!!! also you have to ask the dr. of the long term use of the pred. & what complications could happen not only physically & emotionally to your body & dealing with the stress that comes along with horrible disease... good luck, amber & things will be alright cuz people such as myself will keep you in my prayers & in my thoughts.... god bless, melyndagamez 4/14/08 11:40p.m.central time [ ] went to the rheum doc.....questions and prednisone i went, i really liked her. she took a good history, listened to me. Guest guest
I am not sure how long the prednisone is for, I know I have to have more lab work and the xrays done then go back to her next Friday so it will at least be 2 full weeks of prednisone before I see her again. I was hoping for a faster result from the prednisone. I have also went ahead as of last night and increased my lyrica a bit. I just cannot get the 300 mg script filled yet, so I took 150 in the am, afternoon and night to start off (might help to go slow with the dizziness too). I just hope the prednisone shows some difference soon. I am not sure how long I can stand this.......why are flare ups so long??? it has been about 6 weeks now from when this started. I should be having fun with my new baby but I can't. I am frustrated today after the bad evening I had last night. amber **************It's Tax Time!
