Request urgent action: Policy on shifting treatment from private clinic to public ART centers

Dear Forum,

The following message is from my friend Santosh, who is on ART. He finds it

difficult to manage the expenses, so he went to ART outlets in his area but he

was turned away by giving excuses that the medicine is out of stock. If this can

happens to santosh what about other PLHIV those who dont have access to any

e-forum or other activists.If Govt. is looking after ART medicines then it is

their duty to manage /function it properly.

Dear Dr. B B rewari,

I am a HIV/AIDS patient residing at Jeypore Orissa. I am in the arv therepy

since Feb'06 under the observation of Dr. G.Raghu Rama Rao M.D (Derm) Professor

& HOD of Dermatology, Andhra Medical College. Since, February I am purchasing

the drugs from SAI MEDI SPARK, VSKP as for the advise of Dr. RAGHU RAMA RAO. At

present, I am not capable to incurr the huge amount to purchase the drugs,

because there is not a single jewellary left in my mother's neck.

I am waiting since 8'O Clock in the morning today, but Dr, Narsimha Rao who was

in the doctors chamber simply refused me to provide the drugs due to lack of

combinations which i was using since last 11 months.

Kindly note: he also advised me to purchase the medicine from the same shop (SAI

MEDI SPARK) VSKP.

I want to tell you some of my history to your kind consern.

On 25th February 2006, i came to know that i am a hiv patient. At that time My

CD4 Count is only 55. I used to take Zidolam two times a day & Nevivir 200mg

once a day.

In the month of March Dr. Raghu rama Rao prescribed me to take Duovir - N twice

a day. After that on the date of 27.04.2006 I went to VCCTC, KGH,

VISAKHAPATNAM. And the counseller advised me to go to ART Centre,

VISAKHAPATNAM. But Dr. Srinivas Rao, IN-charge of ART Centre told me that the

NEVORAZINE doesn't suits me and it devoleped skin rashes. I have already show

him the prescription which DR. Raghu Rama Rao wrote before 4 day's ago that to

continue DUOVIR-N.

That time and now the same answer i have heard from the ART. I Beg them today to

Kindly examine My CD4 Count, because the last test which i have gone is already

SIX Months AGO. also i am ready to pay the fees which costs Rs. 250/-. But,

Surprisingly the machine is now in out of order.

Being a HIV PATIENT i have no right to life in the world?

I want to fight for my life Dear Dr. Please help me. Snce i am coming from 196

KM away from my home town.
