I don't know about that. Daily intake is usually about the same for both -- but potassium should be about twice the sodium intake, for best health. Guest guest
I agree with Val, you're brilliant. I don't know if I'm being dense but I don't find potassium at Quest. All kinds of RBC tests but not potassium. Could you use your researching brilliance and direct me to the right place. Guest guest
Thanks, Bill. That's the deal. When I use my lab it doesn't come up. I used the San location because I do remember often my local lab sends stuff to them and bingo there it is. Interesting....this is what it says in the description. I wonder how many people have hypertension just because of potassium. " RBC Potassium has been found to be decreased in hypertension, in chronic renal failure and in hemodialysis patients " Thanks again, you're brilliant. On Wed, Mar 18, 2009 at 2:29 PM, Bill Kingsbury <b.b.bbverizon (DOT) net> wrote: --- At 01:53 PM 3/18/2009, birrdyy wrote: > >I don't know if I'm being dense but I don't find potassium at Quest. Guest guest
Found one important thing in the wiidpedia article on cortisol. High cortisol moves potassium out of the cells. Low cortisol blocks its loss from the kidneys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortisol Dorothy

Guest guest
I thought I just posted a question, but it never showed up. If it does, sorry for the double. I usually use Quest labs in Northern Ca. Bill, can I still order the RBC postassium & magnesium up here? I didn't see a panel that includes all of the RBC mineral tests they offer. Do you know if they offer that? Thank you so much for sharing this! I hope I can add it on my next bloodtest. > > --- At 01:53 PM 3/18/2009, birrdyy wrote: > > > >I don't know if I'm being dense but I don't find potassium at Quest. Guest guest
I don't have a for sure answer for you but this is what happens for me. My lab (seattle) doesn't offer it either but in the past when they don't have the testing capabilities they send it to San . Often I call for results and am told it will take longer because it had to be sent to CA. I think this might be what all the other locations do. If you doctor writes it on an order I can't imagine any lab not being able to find a location that can do it, outside or inside their company. I thought I just posted a question, but it never showed up. Guest guest
So if I have high cortisol I need to take more potassium? Stress causes cortisol levels to rise? That might explain mine being higher.
