Guest guest
It seems like something like Lamictal might help. I don't know. Got to be something out there to help you. Manic times are sometimes difficult to detect. Sorry about the wellbutrin- seizures are definitely a potential side effect with that medication. Abby In a message dated 4/16/2008 3:03:12 P.M. Just constant pain. I am clinically depressed but don't take anti-depressants after Wellbutrin caused me petite mal seizures....docs say I am too sensitve to medications. Lucky me. Also, when discontinuing these medications, they shouldn't be stopped cold turkey but tapered off slowly. Abby In a message dated 4/16/2008 2:52:57 P.M. Guest guest
When I was put on it, I was put on at lower than the target dose for pain relieving - my psychiatrist's plan was to slowly ramp me up to that dosage. But the side effects started kicking in, and I was afraid to increase the dosage. I have been on anti-depressants since 2001, and I'm always very careful about the side effects because I'm on so many other medications. I'm not sure why, but one of the nights was the final straw for me - I think because I actually got NO sleep that night, not even dozing, and then for 2 days afterward, I was so tired I was having neurologic symptoms. My psychiatrist wasn't in the office, but her partner was, so he changed me over to Prozac immediately. I have leg cramps again lately, but not that severe - I can tell it is from something inside my body rather than a medication. I truly wish it had worked, though. I am considering giving it another shot - my body is not the same as it was 3 or 4 years ago, and I'm some different medications than I was - so that may have something to do with it. Guest guest
Oh, yeah, nervous breakdowns. I've had an average of 1 per year the last 3 years or so.....1 was bad enough I had to take a 30 day leave of absence....can't remember if I was cymbalta at the time of any of them though. Basically, when I have one, I can't function - at all. I can make decisions, can't concentrate, can't even think (which led to job disciplinary action twice, and losing my job in September of last year). The pain cycle that I'm going through hasn't helped, either, I'm probably working on another one pretty quickly. Tina getcoffee@... wrote: What does one consider a breakdown? I don't mean to be ignorant but does that mean more depression? That's a risk when changing antidepressants. It's on the label. They don't work for everyone- I hope you both find one that works better for you. I'm sure it was frightening. Guest guest
I didn't have any problems coming off of it after the year and half two years that I took it. I weaned off though per my doctors instructions. leigh hunt <meeeeeelee@...> wrote: I'm glad some of us are helped by Cymbalta, but I am telling you from experience, when and if you do ever TRY to stop taking it, you're in for a world of hurt. Guest guest
Hi - I have been taking it for about 4 weeks for pain and so far the only problem has been terrible cotton mouth! I drink loads of water but it has helped already for my shoulder pain. D. Guest guest
Hi all, My mother has severe degenerative as well as fibro. She has been on Cymbalta for a couple of years for the fibro. She has had no side effects, but has ran out a couple of times and tried to do without it. Big mistake! Within a couple of days she couldn't get out of bed or walk. Back on it, within a few days, could move and work. She still suffers with tremendous pain, but is able to function with the fibro thanks to Cymbalta. Charlotte " How we fall into grace.
