Guest guest
Well, I saw the pulmonary doctor after my sleep study so I can get on provigil or some other narcoleptic medication or stimulant. My results weren't back yet from my sleep study even though I got a letter telling me the results were sent to my doctor. He wants me to see a psych first to try to modify my some of my medications since I don't sleep well at night and I am tired during the day. He said if he prescribed me provigil, it wouldn't make sense since many of the medications I am on cause drowsiness. He said it's like taking xanax and drinking 5 cups of coffee because the medication make you tired. I should follow up w/ a psych for depression, anxiety, PTSD and bi- polar...I just haven't one in a few months because whenever I see one I have to relive my hospitalization all over again. I called my PCP so I can get a refferal to see a psych. I wonder if once I see a psych and I get all my medications in order if he will make another excuse not to prescribe me provigil. I was told I needed to get a sleep study to make sure I don't have sleep apnea since narcoleptic medications can make it worse. OK...I can understand that. I was told after the sleep study and if I don't have sleep apnea, I can get the medication. I do the sleep study and now I have to see a psych. Frustrating. Guest guest
Hi ! That is very frustrating! All medications pretty much cause drowsiness but it seems that prescribing a stimulant will help ease it somewhat! Maybe not take it away but improve it. If I take a Sudafed for instance, (which I no longer ever take because it bothers my heart palpitations and increases my anxiety), it gives me energy even though all of my other medications cause drowsiness. It doesn't make me bounce off the walls or anything, but I am more alert. Also, if I cheat and have just a tiny glass of something with caffeine in it, it does the same thing even though I take pain medication, Lunesta, 7mgs of Xanax, 150mgs of Effexor, and all of the other medications I take. After spending the weekend having to page doctors, and having 4 nurses and 2 doctors call me back yesterday, acting as if I was going to die of anaphalyactic shock, I am very frustrated and don't even want to touch any of my medications! I didn't take my Lunesta the past couple of nights, since I have been taking benadryl every 4 hours. I hope you get some answers soon! <man_u8@...> wrote: Well, I saw the pulmonary doctor after my sleep study so I can get on provigil or some other narcoleptic medication or stimulant. Guest guest
, I have tried everything that I can think of to help offset the fatigue. I tried drinking soda, coffee, energy drinks, vitamins, excerise etc. with no effect. The only thing that worked for me was ephedra...of course they banned it. When I heard about provigil I got excited because I thought it could really help me. I am thinking about trying another diet medication (I need to loose weight anyways)...but I wanted to try provigil first. My husband let me try one of his adderral and it helped...but he needs them more then I do. I will keep you updated.
