Guest guest
Hi, I'm Tina. A little background information. About 3 years ago, I was having unexplained back pain and knee pain. The doctors thought it might be fibro, sent me to physical therapy....but when therapy helped, they backed off that diagnosis....I was even convinced that wasn't it. Fast forward to six months ago. I was having severe pain in my back, shoulders, SI joint, etc. After two months of pain, I finally got my current doctor to at least run an MRI to find the cause. That showed a bulging disc, but not much. The doc told me, " well, that shouldn't hurt that much, so I'm not going to do anything for it. " I made an appointment at pain management. I went through 8 weeks of physical therapy, got put on pain killers, anti-inflammatories, and muscle relaxants. The physical therapy didn't work, so more tests, etc. Finally, was told by an ER doc and pain management that it probably is fibro. My primary doc was still saying, " Oh, see, it's muscular. " That was when I got him to conduct the final two tests, which ruled out pretty much everything at this point. There are some other issues as well. I have epilepsy and am on anti-convulsant medications (which leaves me out of most fibro studies). Last fall, I had a seizure out of the blue (had previously been controlled through medication). My neuro doc ordered a brain MRI, which showed white matter lesions....which can mean a few things. The first 2 things he thought of were MS and potential stroke in the near future. I have one of the symptoms for MS now - tingling in face, ears etc intermittently. So we are keeping an eye on everything. But obviously, the pain does not fit in with MS.
