Re: new on methotrexate questions

Hi Sandy,

A gal I work with has RA and has been on Methotrexate for the last

almost 12 weeks with no relief. The pills have really upset her

stomach a lot, and on top of she has to take 4 pills one day and then

24 hours later she takes 4 more! She seems to be very fatigued the day

after she takes this medication. I'm only familiar with methotrexate

use in oncology patients, so my co-worker is my first experience with

for RA. I know that they looking for another medication for her, and

they are trying to get her into a study.

I used to take MTX 8 pills a week, it really upset my stomach. Now, I

take the injectable, I don't have near the problem I did before. I

also take Enbrel, plaquenil & prednisone. I'm doing pretty good. My

Dr is weaning me off prednisone. But I'm currently having a little

pain daily, so she may be changing things around someday. I see her

next week.
