Guest guest
Hi Angie, I think the main thing that helps me is rest. I stopped working after I took Family leave. I have to say I can get a lot accomplished now. I fix breakfast for my DH, then go back to bed for a couple of hours. Then I clean the house resting in between tasks and if I am tired I take a nap in the afternoon. Actually most of the time I just lay down, close my eyes and relax my body, as I lay there I think of ways to do what ever is coming up, the main thing here is my body is resting even if I am awake. I hope this makes sense, a bit of fog today. If you have to work is it possible to take an hour lunch? If so maybe you can take lunch and find somewhere to lie down or at least put our feet up. I honestly can not function without lying down at least a half an hour a day. Even if I don't sleep I rest. it helps. i hope you are able to do this. Maybe you can set aside a half hour right after work for just you to just lie down. Sounds crazy cause bed time will be soon after but your evening will probably be more productive. As for the pain sorry I;m not much help I live on vicodin!!! If it's bad I increase my prednisone to 20mg for a few days to a week. good luck! Guest guest
Hi there! I take medication when needed for pain as well using the Therma Care heat wraps, which after using many, many, many of them, I will tell you that the regular brand, which is cheaper than the Arthritis brand works just as well for me. The new arthritis brand DOES work wonderfully, but for me, I have to use them so often that money becomes a factor. Personally, I think they charge way too much for them, but then it's one of those things of " supply and demand " . I take many hot showers too. With fatique, I rest when I have to. It takes me forever......to get moving in the morning. Sometimes I may nap for over an hour in the afternoon but I usually limit naps to 30 minutes at a time. I also use a heating pad throw while I rest on the couch. My RA doctor once told me that it is never a good idea to rest in your bedroom - for one, that's where you go to bed, second, it can make you feel depressed. Whether any of that is true, I don't know, but IF I lay across the bed, I always set my alarm for 30 minutes just in case. You have to listen to your body - rest when you feel like you need it. Sometimes, I feel like I have more energy then other days where I do nothing but read, watch movies and just become a couch potatoe....it all depends what my body tells me ( and don't forget the weather factor!!!!) I hope this helps you or at least gives you some ideas! I agree 100%, resting between chores is the only way my house gets clean! It seems I can get twice as much done if I take little breaks, than if I push past any pain or stiffness. It might take longer, but I don't end up useless later. Carol >
