Guest guest
This all started when the old old old dietitians were " just cooks " and prepared " horrible hospital food " which was included as part of the room and board charge in hospitals. With thanks, Anne Anne Schreiner, RD, LDN, CDE Dietitian/Nutritionist/Educator NutriNutRD@... Healthy Weight, Cancer Prevention, Diabetes Prevention and Management, Heart Disease Risk Reduction and Management, Hypertension Management: not a diet. It's lifestyle! Guest guest
Ya think. I'm one of those old dietitians, degreed before RDs were thought of. Never cooked horrible food. Food is still part of room and board in hospitals and LTC/STR facilities, just as medication and nursing care is included. Guest guest
And I am one of those old old old Dietitians, just entering my 50th yr with ADA. I never cooked at work, except once during my internship, when there was a very important dinner for big shots and we were all 'invited' to help in the kitchen and with serving. That was also my first and last experience as a waitperson. In my private life I do quite a bit of cooking and serving. If we all write to our representatives and CMS stating our position on this decision perhaps we can look forward to a revision.  Madalyn  ________________________________ To: rd-usa Sent: Sunday, December 4, 2011 3:31 PM Subject: Re: Medicare to pay for obesity counseling sessions - but NOT with d  Ya think. Guest guest
Ahh Raphaela, you beat me to the punch only bc I made a PR Xmas liqueur, Coquito, and of course had to sample it, which then made me sleepy so I had to make coffee, and in the meantime got busy with something I had to finish so it got cold, so I'm waiting for it to cool down since I overheated it. But otherwise my response would have been quite rude. If that's how we describe ourselves, there's less hope than I thought. I sure will give our young colleague the benefit of the doubt and assume she meant this tongue-in-cheek. But I didn't hear the laughter or see the smiley icon, so how do we know? Guest guest
I apologize to all of you young folks out there. (And YES I am one of the old old grandfathered RDs). Go back and read the history. And yes we were unable to define ourselves as a profession at that time. I am not a " cook " either but folks still think of us as the Mrs. Beazley's of the world. Woops, you are all too young to remember Mrs. Beasley. With thanks, Anne Anne Schreiner, RD, LDN, CDE Dietitian/Nutritionist/Educator NutriNutRD@... Guest guest
I love your post. However as you pointed out the people who are supose to provide this service don't have the time etc., basicly this is rationing of healthcare. Allow the service but raise the bar so high that only a few if any can get the service. Guest guest
yes, Twilight Zone plays on late night TV in TX. I still enjoy the programs. St Elsewhere was fun to watch and showed real compassion for the patients and all the staff working with them. Good program.
