Guest guest
Anything that is high calorie/low volume that they are willing to eat/drink. Canned supplements, powdered mixed with milk, juice-based, etc. First have to figure out why they are underweight. Is it inadeq energy intake or is there malabsorption/maldigestion?  What I usually do is find out what they usually eat/drink then work on " power packing " ideas (how to increased kcals without increasing volume). If there is good intake, then I wonder about excessive exercise or GI losses.  Holly  To: " rd-usa " <rd-usa > Sent: Saturday, August 20, 2011 5:33 AM Subject: Re: Adult women gain weight products  >What about supplements? > >Thank you, > > Nodvin MS,RD/LD > >LifeAlly, Inc. >8343 Roswell Road, Suite 323 | Atlanta, Georgia 30350 >Office | Fax >@... > >This message and any attachments are intended only for the use of the addressee and may contain information that is CONFIDENTIAL or PRIVILEGED. Guest guest
½ cup plain, full-fat yogurt 1-2 cups fresh or frozen (no sugar added) fruit ¼ cup coconut milk 1 scoop whey protein powder Combine in blender until smooth and creamy. Makes 1 serving. I suggest increasing the recipe by X 4 and storing it in mason jars for breakfast or snacks. For a little sweetness use vanilla whey, a little maple syrup or stevia ½ cup plain yogurt ¼ cup berries 1-2 T protein powder 1 T unsweetened coconut 1 T almond butter or 1 T slivered nuts High quality whey protein helps maintain serotonin levels and therefore combat stress American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 2002 June; 75(6):1051-6. Whey proteins raise serotonin levels and help to Improve mood and Lower cortisol. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. 2000.
