Guest guest
Now, that's exciting, ....does anyone have any information on laser treatments in the U.S.? E.M. I am guilty of being a lurker, but I have had good reasons... mainly trying to keep my hypoglycemia under control, worrying about this Middle East situation (as I am an American in Jordan for the time being... I think this would account for some added stress ), sore gums when I guess I must have over-flossed, and night before last in the ER for food poisoning... I am still not over that.... but I have always had all of you on my mind. I was even too tired to turn on the computer... I know I must have been feeling bad. I think all of us with PA are always trying to figure out how to cope with it, we don't want to be a drag on those around us, so we tend to suffer in silence... when we all need a hug, not pity. It is so frustrrating to have PA and want to do the best for ourselves, but it is like running around in a circle and getting nowhere... whenever I feel good for a day or so, I always feel this dark cloud hovering over me waiting to poor down and push me into depression with more pain, nauseousness, etc. At the end of this month Jordan will be hosting the First International Conference on Psoriasis.... with speakers from all over the world... they will discuss PA some, I am not sure how much. Anyway, I will be attending with my husband and my older son (who also has P)... so I hope something will come out of it. My Dermatologist is one of the coordinators of this conference... evidently Jordan will be receiving one of the six laser machines used in the newest treatment of psoriasis... evidently it decreases the blood supply to each lesion and therefore reduces the rapid growth of skin growth... I will keep you posted. I am quite excited about this... I only hope that there will be a treatment like this for PA as well... PA bothers me much more than the P... although, the P is bad. Sorry Orin, I went on and on... but we know how you feel... I would love to take pain killers, but they give me a worse feeling the next day... and I can't drink because of the hypoglycemia... I am in need of some vice that will help... guess our virtual hugs to each other will have to do. Just take care of your liver and mixing of meds. and alcohol... we don't want to lose you or any of our fellow PAer's...) #2 ron_s_dotson <Ron@...> wrote: Orin, Consider this a virtual HUG! Also, don't feel guilty about excessive alcohol consumption if it helps you cope with PA. Some doctors are very stingy about prescribing pain medication because they fear their license to practice medicine will be revoked by the government, or more specifically by the DEA, as has happened to many doctors and even pharmacist's for dispensing more pain prescriptions than the government approved of. It's a sad situation in this so called " land of the free " that folks sometimes have to resort to something as harmful as alcohol to numb their pain because our own government doesn't allow us access to less harmful alternatives. Years ago long before I started AP and before I had found a doctor willing to prescribe effective pain medication when it was needed, I too would sometimes resort to drinking alcohol to the point of numbness because it was the only " medication " available to me. Those were dark days, because the alcohol wouldn't really alleviate the pain, it just made me less conscious of it (and everything else for that matter - LOL!). Please take a look at the Doonesbury cartoon about pain medications from Sunday, July 26, 1998 at http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/asap/doonesbury1.htm It takes awhile to download, but it's worth it. So when are us " Baby Boomers " going to get Doonesbury's message and start taking some action!??? (And yes, that includes everyone, not just us Baby Boomers and the " Social Security " crowd that someone complained about in a previous post.) There are some good articles about pain management and how to deal with our authoritarian government's Machiavellian and heartless attitude towards pain management at http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/asap/ As someone once said, " Whatever gets you through the night " , -- Ron > There comes a time when the reality of it all becomes > overbearing. Guest guest
Eva, I will ask my dermatologist exactly where in the U.S. the 2 new laser machines are ... also any other information I can get... Maybe I will try to type out the information that is on the brochure... it lists one or two U.S. doctors that will be attending the Conference. Plus, I will be able to meet with all of them in person on the 25th and 26th...so I will let all of you know whatever I find out... it is good news for psoriasis. They say that in 2 years no one should be suffering from psoriasis anymore... they will still have it, but treatment should be able to keep it under control... my thought is that if we can keep the P under control, that just maybe the PA will follow and improve a bit... if it is true that they go hand in hand, if one gets worse the other does... so, maybe if the P improves then the PA will follow... anyway, I will remember to get all the information I can and share it with this group... I know I have posted over the quota, but I am now 'officially' into Friday... it is 12:47 a.m. for me now... ) #2 > > There comes a time when the reality of it all becomes > > overbearing. Guest guest
Jonathon, It is the Microlight 830. You can check out their website at http://www.microlightcorp.com/index.asp or the info at http://www.laserhealing.net/index.html The use of it for thyroid function is experimental only and some in the laser industry feel it is theoretically contraindicated for use over the thyroid. There are many light based instruments available now that are much more affordable, but it is unknown how well they work. Blessings, Mark > Do you know the name or type of laser Poesnecker is using? Guest guest
I purchased a Healthlight Micro for two cavitations that I have and it seems to be pulling blood into the dead jaw bone. It operates on 7 different frequencies. > > Do you know the name or type of laser Poesnecker is using? Guest guest
I just began a series of laser treatments for all the spots of P I have in various places. The lesions are noticeably fading away and I only had a treatment Saturday and one today. You are supposed to go 3 times a week up to about 10 treatments. My derm is very well know and teaches in a university hospital in NYC so he is up with the newest treatment. If anyone is interested it is called the XTRAC Laser treatment. Guest guest
Hi this is Chris. Went to my pain doctor. He kept me on percocets just more during the day. They did a laser treatment on me. It is called K- laser treatment. Low infared rays stimulate the cells below the skin level and promote oxygen and blood flow to the area. Thus decreasing pain and inflammation. It seems to be working. My chest has felt better than it has in a long while. It is non-evasive and costs 75 dollars a treatment. I am hoping this helps my costochondritis a little. Talk to you all soon. God Bless, Chris
