Guest guest
I have been on appeal with cigna. I find then impossible. I was an ESE teacher. They claim I can work. Getting dressed is a major feat for me. They are rediculous. Three Doctors verify my disabling conditions. I wish I had encouraging words. I am still in the process with an attorney representing me. Cigna takes teachers money for years and hates to pay. I think the entire company should be investigated. bitsysguest <pmandell@...> wrote: My disability appeal will be presented to Cigna insurance on April 23. My policy states that I should be covered if I cannot perform the duties of my profession at the time of disability. I was a headmaster of a private school and I could not longer keep up the pace of 12 hour days plus night meetings, weekend events, board meetings, fundraising, etc. Cigna denied my claim initially and I have hired an attorney to help me appeal. My doctor has a policy of not telling anyone whether or not they should continue to work but she was supportive of my decision to quit working. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to what additional information might help my case with Cigna? I would appreciate any help!! Thanks, Pat Raniolo

Guest guest
Pat, Is this for short term disability or long term disability? I think you did the right thing w/ hiring an attorney. I would get as much of your medical records as possible (if your attorney of course does not have them). I used to deal w/ the appeal process for medical treatment. From my experience, the people who review your case; may not have a medical background. If they do, they tend to have medical experience/knowledge in another speciality. I don't know the process or the protocal of dealing w/ Cigna for a disability claim. Best of luck to you, I hope you will your case. If you are no longer working, I would apply for SSDI as well. Have an attorney from the get go, don't wait to get denied for SSDI first. I think that helped me get approved on the 1st try. > > My disability appeal will be presented to Cigna insurance on April 23.
