Guest guest
Are any of you familiar with the " Heart Attack Proof " diet by Dr. Esselstyn? He states the following on his web site: *Egg whites, fat free milk and yogurt are ALL animal protein, and animal protein injures the lining of the arteries. Do not eat.* Does anyone know the mechanism behind the idea that animal protein harms the lining of the arteries? I've never heard that before. He does however say this at the bottom of the page: *While the precise mechanisms need to be elucidated, animal and epidemiological studies as well as the brachial artery tourniquet test, confirm that animal protein accelerates both atherosclerosis and cancer, whereas plant protein does not. * I would wonder if fat (particularly saturated fat) was a factor where the animal protein was concerned? Does anyone know about these tourniquet test studies? Any of your expert insights are appreciated! Thanks! Shelby
