I have a fellow dietitian do a peer competency worksheet 3 times per year.

Maybe create something along those lines. Years ago it was part of our PI.

Subject: " competency " for Joint Commission

Two part question for you all out there.

Our sister hospital is a small critical access hospital (that the Joint

Commission recently visited) that the dietitians from this hospital cover

on an every other day basis (Yes our policies reflect such and our

timeframes allow such).

So, first question. Is there some type of uniform " competency " guide that

RD's should have documented? I guess my thought is that registration,

licensure is documentation. And continuing education reinforces this.

Secondly. The Joint Commission seemed to have some issue with my direct

report NOT being a dietitian......any comments on that? (not really a

question I guess).

thanks for your time and thoughts.
