Guest guest
Helllo everyone, some will remember me as Debs in FL, some have never heard of me.....but none the less here I am again (still) with questions.? Let me just give you a quick note as to where I have been.? I have been dx'd with RA, Lupus (yes a strange combination), fibro, diabetes, diabetic neuropathy.? I was taking Enbrell for approx 2 years, when out of the blue, it stopped working.? It was restarted a few months later, to no avail,? It was then determined that I would start on Remicade.? Never really had the same response as I did to Enbrel.? During this time I was having trouble with my total knee replacements, primarily the right knee.? In fact, the patella (knee cap)of the right knee cracked down the middle and they were attepting to repair this when all H_LL broke loose.? To make a long story short, they kept trying to fix that knee and because of the prednisone, my skin woud not heal, they did skin flaps and they did not take and during this time I developed a MAJOR infection which turned into sepsis and I went into septic shock, lost my BP and pulse and was essentially dead.? It was 4 jolts with the paddle and numerous drugs to bring me back.? I was in the hospital for 4 months.? I went home and this continued to have these septic episodes every 4-6 weeks,. each time going into shock, where they had to shock, drug me and put me on a respirator.? This went on for 4 years and my ortho had no suggestions. FINALLY, after a LOT of thinking and talking with my family, I decided to have my right lower leg amputed above the knee.? This surgery was done in July of 2007 and to date I have NOT been back to the hospital YEAH !!!!!!? I have not been fitted yet for my prosthesis yet as I am having trouble with neuromas in the stump.......but I am persistent! Now, finally for my question...........I have been started again on Enbrel (at the OK of my infectious disease specialist) and have been on approximately 3 weeks.? I? went to see my rheumatologist on an emergency basis for malaise, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite.? It almost feels like I am going into another sepsis situation.? The rheumy has taken me off the Enbrel for 2 weeks,? took an MRI of my hands and run a ton of blook tests.? Anyone had a reaction like this to Enbrel or to anything else?? Please advise. I have kept up on my friends by reading my e-mails but have missed you all.? It sure has been a long time that we have been together. Loving, tender, gentle hugs Debs in FL Re: [ ] OT vertigo Tina thank you sharing your experience with this thing. Guess I am stuck with it for awhile. Hope you do not get it back. Thank you again for your help, -------------- Original message -------------- From: Tina Schmidt <spydre_74@...> For quite a while at night I had this issue. When I finally got a diagnosis, the doctor (one I saw at a clinic for a one shot deal) said it was labrynthitis. It usually only affected me when i laid down, generally with my eyes closed. I had a couple different strategies for combating it when it happened, but I was really having trouble with it. I truly can't remember how it got resolved. Shortly after that, I found out I had endometriosis, and starting having to deal with that (this was 8 or 9 years ago), so I don't remember much more about the labrynthitis. It is strange I can clean my house and be fine then move my head to much, I feel like I am spinning. I don't get physically ill to my stomach so that is a good thing. Guest guest
Hi, Debs! I'm very happy to hear from you. I'm so sorry about the loss of your leg. You might be having a reaction to Enbrel now because you a restarting it after such a long break. Maybe Humira would be a good alternative?
