Guest guest
I've been thinking of trying TaiChi with my wife, thinking it would be good for both of us. It can certainly help us with range of motion without hurting like walking or running and rid us of some of the laziness we've begun to enjoy. Has anyone had experience with it, have any advice for us? I've looked on the net and only find ads for buying books and dvd's, and no significant info as to what to do. I'm not going to throw money away if there's a choice. Dennis in eastexas [ ] RA & Fatigue > My husband has asked me several times why I'm so tired with RA. Guest guest
Hi Dennis! My rheumatologists at the University of Michigan suggested that for me as well. For relaxation, FMS, and the pain with the RA. If you go to www.arthritis.org which is the Arthritis Foundation (you might already know this), they offer pace classes. Some are low impact aerobic, hydrotherapy, but they also offer Tai Chi. You can put in your location and they will tell you where and when the classes are in your area or give you contact information for the classes. Some classes that I saw were free, and the ones that were not, were really inexpensive. I think for my hydrotherapy class, it was $3 a week to go. I've not yet gone though, but need to soon betnden@... wrote: I've been thinking of trying TaiChi with my wife, thinking it would be good for both of us. Guest guest
You're talking about a fairly large town, I suppose, and that you live in town. We are out in the country and not conveniently located. Along with high gas prices, I couldn't afford those trips if they exist at all. I tried to get into an aerobics class at an area Chiropractor center but there weren't any classes or other options available. Anything I do, I'll have to do for myself, as it seems I've always had to do. Guest guest
I actually live in a small town where I am with less than 2000 people. They are offered at the YMCA here and another organization. I know sometimes it is very difficult to find classes and things in our smaller areas. betnden@... wrote: You're talking about a fairly large town, I suppose, and that you live in town. Guest guest
Hi Dennis, I encourage you to keep reaching out. I've lived in small towns and know it can be lonely. I know I've probably spent a least a good 1/3 of my life feeling lonely, it can be so hard to find even a few friends. I hope you'll keep looking for options. At the risk of telling you something you've already tried, I wonder about some local church activities or putting a free ad in the local paper (if ones available) looking for folks who would like to meet even once a month at the library or some other facility nearby for a craft time. ez --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
