Guest guest
i went to the rheum doctor on friday, the doctors office did not send the labs over so thankfully i had a copy to give her....she looked at them and told me my vit d was non existant......i had to start taking some......my ana which was positive is not negative....my RF was neg.... but she is going to do a bunch more labs that she wants done the begining of may, to see changes and keep the insurance company happy (not too many of the same too close) she then gave me 2 scripts and told me i had to taper off the prednisone down to 5 mgs a day the meds she gave me was vit d 50000 iu, to take one 2 times a week for 4 weeks then once a week after that, also i had to get on calcium. the other was hydroxychloroquine 200 mgs times a day....i have to look this one up, i have never given it or worked with it before.... any one take this before? is this a normal first try drug??? it was an ok visit, just wish i felt better already....i was hoping the prednisone would work miricles (it helped some) amber
Guest guest
hydrochloroquine worked fairly quickly and well for me but I had very mild symptoms at the time (still not too bad). My rheumy loves this med as its been around for a long time and is usually well tolerated. Unfortunately, about 30% of patients who take it who have psoriasis find that the psoriasis worsens. By the time I figured out what was causing mine to worsen I was itching all over despite multiple anti-itching meds. It was quite funny, really. My rheumy felt bad but I still think it was worth a try as I might have been one of the lucky 70%. Hope it works well for you. ez --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.
