Guest guest
I've eliminated sugar and caffeine back when I just had the Fibromyalgia but I haven't noticed a difference. (except I'm even more tired than I was when I got to have a sugar rush!) I have read information on gluten free though and would love to find a good diet plan to follow coops1mom <welshclan@...> wrote: Hi-new to the group with newly diagnosed RA. Guest guest
, I have lately wondered if I had a problem with gluten and I've considered the same thing; I have a friend who is on a gluten free diet and I think I'll give it a try.... Guest guest
Yes, I eat gluten free and low carb. My digestive problems have improved alot. Other than that, it is hard to say if it has had any effect on joint pain and fatigue. My good days / flares seem to vary so greatly and I have never been able to nail down and foods that help / hurt me in particular. You can buy some gluten free foods if you like. There are many approaches to diet. I eat a heavy meat based diet that is often barely cooked - and sometimes really pushing more towards raw. I have pretty much stoped eatin vegetables other than as seasonings. I do eat some seasonal fruit. I still consume some dairy, milk, keifer, cheese, all raw whenever possiable. I eat raw nuts as well. I have lost alot of weight, which has helped the pain in my knees. And I do think on my good day that I do have more energy than I used to. But on flare days, it can seem like almost nothing helps diet wise, then it is just time to take the Aleve, and such. I suspect I may still be consuming some foods that are bothering me that I have not yet figured out what they are. But then again, it may just be autoimmune issues unrelated to diet. If you follow a Paleo diet plan, you will eliminate all modern foods and eat only whole foods, ideally in there raw state, this is the ultimate food allergy test in my opinion, but too restrictive for most people to even consider. It is my goal in eating to eat very close to paleo, and I keep getting closer to it all the time. > I've eliminated sugar and caffeine back when I just had the Fibromyalgia but > I haven't noticed a difference. Guest guest
, Do you know of a good web-site for gluten free. I gave up all the sugar substitutes because of the side effects unfortunately now I sweet tea with a lot of sugar. No caffeine though. I love vegtables but don't eat much red meat because of cholesterol. Any advice would be appreciated. I know several members here went to gluten free. Guest guest
I'm thinking of that too. Do you know of any books that have a diet plan? I used to do Atkins and there were suggested meals that I could have daily. I'm sure I could check with a nutritionist too if I can find one to get in to see <radnor37@...> wrote: , I have lately wondered if I had a problem with gluten and I've considered the same thing; I have a friend who is on a gluten free diet and I think I'll give it a try.... Guest guest
A good start for gluten free is http://www.glutenfree.com/ I think sugar substitutes taste really bad and plain sugar isn't all that good for the body. I use Xylitol which is a sugar alcohol which is much better for you, really tastes like sugar and has a low glycemic level. Hugz PeggyH > > , > Do you know of a good web-site for gluten free. Guest guest
As a diabetic, I have to avoid sugar and starches as much as possible. I use Splenda, and find that it tastes just like sugar to me. I'm really thankful for it, because I think that some of the sugar substitutes do taste bad. Guest guest
Xylitol, a sugar alcohol not a chemical substitute and is derived from natural sources. It is a sugar alternative for diabetics. It also may inhibit cavities by denying plaque bacteria the fuel it needs to erode tooth enamel. There is no after taste. Just some extra info for those who may be interested. Guest guest
Thank you for the good suggestions on sugar substitutes. I always have a hard time determining which is a derivative or which is a substitute. I picked up some Stevia at the health store one time, but I'm still not sure if its sugar or a substitute:) peggyhcrafts <peggyhcrafts@...> wrote: Xylitol, a sugar alcohol not a chemical substitute and is derived from natural sources.
