Technical Advisor - HIV/AIDS (TA-HIV/AIDS /HR/12/06)

Location: Delhi

Job Summary:

To support Plan's interventions in HIV/AIDS in India in close

cooperation with colleagues, communities, families, partner

organizations, networks and government. To manage and coordinate

Plan's and its Partners' projects on HIV/AIDS and trafficking,

including advocacy elements of the program, and to develop capacity

in our partners to effectively implement appropriate HIV/AIDS

interventions within their programs

Major responsibilities:

• Coordinate Plan International (India)'s HIV/AIDS program, and its

links to human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children.

• Project management of individual projects if and when required,

and/or supervision/guidance of project managers.

• Strengthen capacities of partner NGOs in applying appropriate

strategies to dealing with HIV/AIDS in the communities they work with

• Promote strong networking with concerned organizations (government,

NGOs, bilaterals, private sector) to deal with HIV/AIDS issues in

partnership, and participate in these networks. Strengthen and liaise

with existing networks of organizations and persons wherever possible

and contribute to the development of networks where they are not yet

in existence but are needed

• Sensitization and capacity building on HIV/AIDS with Plan staff and

partners

• Undertake and/or commission further research and documentation in

the area of HIV/AIDS

Preferred Experience:

Qualification/s:

• At least 5 years experience of working with PLWHA/CSW/IVDU

• At least one year experience of working with OVC

• Knowledge and understanding of the issues of child trafficking for

sexual exploitation, and its link to HIV/AIDS

• Strong practical program implementation experience

• Experience with strategy development

• Preferably a person living with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS

Core competencies:

• Strong consultation skills; a strong belief and capacity to consult

with and involve PLWHAs, including children and other stakeholders,

in the design, participatory implementation, supervision, monitoring

and evaluation of programs

• Excellent communication and networking skills

• Comfortable working as a member of a team

• Fluency in writing, reading and speaking both English and Hindi

• Capacity to comfortably discuss HIV/AIDS-related issues with all

audiences

• Capacity to liaise with government and other stakeholders and

develop linkages

Travel: Above 50% plus (fifty percent plus) of the time
