Guest guest
As Colorado and other states work towards licensure (I've NOT read the bill yet-anybody have a copy or a link to the CO bill?) - I thought members should read what non-RD Nutritionists are saying. ADA speeds up it's race for Monopoly - _http://www.anh-usa.org/american-dietetic-association-speeds-up-its-race-for -monopoly/_ (http://www.anh-usa.org/american-dietetic-association-speeds-up-its-race-for-mon\ opoly/) So, my question is - are PhD nutritionist/CCNs excluded from licensure based on these bills? If yes, then I understand the opposition. I've clearly known many RDs and even ADA that give incorrect advice. One example that's been close to my professional practice for the last 10-20 years: ADA finally " got it right " concerning IgE and non-IgE immune responses in the Dec JADA article-Adverse Food Reactions-Emerging Trends. I have an article in my files by Dr. Ted Kniker that's on the same topic, but over 20 years old. And, up until 2 years ago, the ADA website stated that we suffered from either IgE immune responses OR non-IgE food intolerance, fully IGNORING 40+ years of research that proved we have non-IgE immune responses to food. When I contacted ADA regarding this misinformation, I was informed that they did not plan to correct it. Anyway, I think any RD lobbying for licensure should know the full ramifications for our nutrition colleagues that are not RDs but may have extensive nutrition degrees and backgrounds, but may not had any interest in the RD route with the institutional Food/service course of study.
