Guest guest
from Synthroid's website: http://www.rxabbott.com/pdf/Synthroid.pdf  " the drug should be taken as a single daily dose, preferably 1/2 to 1 hour before breakfast, at least 4 hours apart from drugs that interact " (calcium, iron supplements, etc). The website lists several food interactions such as soybean flour (from infant formula), cottonseed meal, walnuts, dietary fiber that " may bind and decrease the absorption of levothyroxine, " the website does not suggest a time frame to seperate them by, although their 4 hour time frame for drugs that interact seems appropriate. That's the advice I have always given clients. Sue    NOTICE: This confidential message/attachment contains information intended for a specific individual(s) and purpose. Guest guest
I suggest to clients that wake up during the night to use the washroom or that wake up before they need to get out of bed that they keep their synthroid and a glass of water beside their bed. That way, it doesn't interfere with getting a good breakfast in right away. It does seem to make a difference in how effective their dosage is. Guest guest
Food 30 minutes after synthroid. I take it first thing in the morning. I try to avoid soy. I have been on synthroid for 25+ years. ________________________________ To: " RD-USA (rd-usa ) " <rd-usa > Sent: Wednesday, February 1, 2012 9:13 AM Subject: synthroid and food  I am unclear if synthroid needs to be taken on an empty stomach - no food for 1 hour after taking the medication.
