RA and severe edema (swelling or fluid retention)

Hi everyone,

does anyone else have severe edema or fluid retention with their RA?

I have had the worst time. if i come off a fluid pill i immediately

start gaining fluid weight upwards of 20 lbs in 2 weeks!!! This time

I suffered severe right arm pain and swelling and it was twice the

size as my left arm. of course had to go back on prednisone for pain

and fluid pills. nobody seems to know what causes the edema, is it

just part of the RA? I have had the RA for about 4 years or so now.

I am just so sick of pills and pain as I know you all are as well. I

am away from home right now, but if you email me at

to scroll through pages and pages of entries.

As a side note, my heart goes out to all of you still battling for

disability. i say good luck and don't give up. i would be lost

without it. i would probably be in a nursing home somewhere. I wish

I were kidding. I cannot believe I am only 42 in september and am

having this many health problems. it is mind boggling. gentle hugs

to all and sorry about my spelling. I ried to correct everything,

but these hands are not good at all anymore.
