I consider these discussions healthy, at least for me. Often things aren’t

what they seem at first glance. Sometimes after much reading and thinking, I

change my opinion or my mind on a choice I had made. I’m not wishy-washy, I

just listen and ponder to be able to in the end be sure I’ve made the best

decision. At other times, when I’m really upset or disgusted with something,

it’s cathartic to talk about it. When I face bad news or tragedy, there are a

few ppl I talk to – none are psychiatrists or in the counseling business, just

dear, good and loyal friends whose wisdom and objectivity I trust. It’s the

same with these listserves; I trust that my colleagues will eventually lead me

to the right thoughts, diffuse my opposition, anger, or anxiety, give me the

right advise, and help me. I’ve deleted many of the hundreds I’ve received,

but then, I’ve also sent about ten thousand myself it seems. So if I’ve

contributed to anyone’s distress over emails this time, that’s too bad. Not

my intention at all.

And … I still like the new name J

Moving to digest form (or just hitting the delete button) is good for those who

don't want to be a part of the talks, but I'm not sure it was necessary to make

that announcement.

At first, as with any new change, it's important to have discussions, even if

it's overkill. We are all working together to accept and adjust to the new

change, and we will all end up moving on in our own time. Those of us who are

doing all the " discussing " were not at FNCE, and were not caught up in the

excitement of it all, so to us

it was somewhat of a shock.

I appreciate what others feel, so thanks everyone for all the comments!

Everyone,

After all the flurry of emails regarding the name change, the ongoing

debate, etc, I have decided to put my subscription to this list on digest

format. The situation is what it is. Sure we don't have to be happy about

it, but ongoing discussion/debates are not what I have time for in my life

at this time. If anyone wishes to email me or to get my attention, please

email directly. I will be reading the digest format, but perhaps not so

thoroughly.

As Digna says, these discussions are very healthy. Like bouncing my

ideas/concerns/problems off my close friends, the listserves serve the same

purpose for my professional life.

My daughter is at FNCE and said the comments about the name change were mostly

positive.

I don't sweet it. I think anyone who takes themselves out of the list bc they

don't like a healthy conversation, it is their problem and their loss. I would

not give it more attention. Lets get back to the main issue :)I L-O-V-E the

conversation with all of you, whether we agree or not. I learn a lot and this is

what this list is about.
