Guest guest
There is a book: The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife MD. I heard him speak about his book. Not a lot on weight loss and athletic performance focus, but he discussed data suggesting coconut products raise HDL and have no effect on LDL, therefore coconuts have a cardioprotective effect. Also, coconut oil heals the gut due tonatural antimicrobial properties, and it is easier to digest since MCTs do not requiring pancreatic enzymes. I switched out coffeemate for canned coconut milk in my coffee and I really enjoy the creamy texture and the flavor. It does separate out a bit but it is still yummy. Regarding athletic advantage, many folks who CrossFit consume coconut water, milk and oil as dairy is limited on the recommended CrossFit lifestyle plan. Guest guest
As far as I have heard as a diabetic it doesn't do anything to help. Cinnamon may help some type 2 diabetics as it can help cells become more reactive to insulin however it does not always work, just depends on the person's body. Coconut oil however is very fatty and not recommended if Cholesterol is an issue. From: rd-usa [mailto:rd-usa ] On Behalf Of Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2012 9:13 AM To: rd-usa Subject: coconut oil Hi- I had a pt asking about coconut oil helping with diabetes? Has anyone ever heard of this and if so do they cook with the oil or is the oil available in capsules? Any info you have would be good. Thank You! Guest guest
Hi Everyone.... I have a client who is convinced that coconut " oil " (solid at room temp!) is the healthiest thing around. I have discussed saturated fat content with him, but the label claims " high content of MCT saturated fats that lower LDL " . So....chemically speaking is this truthful? I was under the impression that saturated fats (any length) are atherogenic, and that true MCT fats are typically oils that are used for fat malabsorption?? Please comment.......thank you! J. Guest guest
My daughter has been using coconut oil on her 3 and 2 yr olds after the bath...they both had 'bumpy skin' and now they both have smooth and beautiful skin. I watched them today and it is true. As for ingesting coconut oil...be sure that it is pure and organic. Most supermarket coconut oil is adulturated I spoke with my medical director today and he said that adding coconut oil to an already demented person may not help but it may help the rest of us.  Madalyn Frieberg ________________________________ To: rd-usa Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 2:26 PM Subject: Coconut oil  Hi Everyone....
