Guest guest
I feel that although it may not be technically RA, it may be related. I have the same pain, It seems to be more prevelant when my wrists are aching. My outer muscles have to work harder to relieve the aching wrists and hands so therefore areas around it hurt from the increased burden. If it goes on for awhile, my elbows start in as well. moves on up, then my shoulders. If you watch or maybe journal when your muscles or tendons hurt, what is going on at the time. Did the pain move and if so where did it go. Did it change, from pinchy to achey, etc? Cold front, cold temps, warm from, heat, humidity, what did you eat, stress and what type, good or bad. You might find a pattern or least something to take with you to the dr at your next visit. You also might be surprised at the patterns that you find. cassy > > Can anyone tell me if the pain that I am having in my arms, is > associated with my RA? I am just so tired of this already and needed some advice. I know no one with RA and this place is perfect. nana
Guest guest
I get the same pain (or it sounds like it). It doesn't feel like joint ache but like sharp pain and it also moves up my arms sometimes..affecting my elbows and my shoulders. I associated it with RA although I never thought to ask the dr. for confirmation. Kim > > Can anyone tell me if the pain that I am having in my arms, is > associated with my RA? Guest guest
My rheummy told me that carpal tunnel syndrome can produce that type of pain and he suspects that I have that. I googled carpal tunnel and RA and, sure enough, they can be related to one another. Maybe the pain you are having is from carpal tunnel syndrome due to swelling in our wrist joint? --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
I also had lower arm pain with the wrist, shoulder and elbow pains. My main reason for going to my rummy was the mentioned pains. He gave me an injection in the inner wrist, between the 2 bones (no pain since he sprayed it first to numb the area). That was around the first week of September 2007. My 'carpal tunnel' was caused by the RA inflammation and that was causing all the other pains up the arm. No CT pain since then! My elbows still hurt but in a different way, but definitely RA along with my hips. I never really know when or where the pain will be. Usually 3-5 days after taking my methotrexate(mtx) I have either mouth ulcers or diarrhea. Not always bad cases of the side-effects, but I've only been on mtx since Sept 2007. My rummy thinks my RA is more agressive than he originally thought and wants to start me on Remicade, but after finding out the cost I think we'll have to discuss other meds. One infusion is around $5,400!!!! After my deductible is met I have to pay 10% up to $2,000 out of pocket then my insurance company pays 100%, but it's to come up with that $500+ every 2 months. I just don't have 'extra' money hanging around, but I know I need to start on something!!! My next appointment isn't until Jan 30th, so we'll have lots to talk about . --- In , Donna Eisenstadt <estadt519@...> wrote: > > My rheummy told me that carpal tunnel syndrome can produce that type of pain and he suspects that I have that. Guest guest
Thanks, everyone. I really do appreciate your input. I see my ruemmy Monday. The pain is similar to shin splint pain. This cold front has impacted so much of my body. I do need to keep a journal so that I am armed when I see the doc. Again, you are much appreciated. nana -- In , " nana2livi " <s.p5315@...> wrote: > > Can anyone tell me if the pain that I am having in my arms, is > associated with my RA? Guest guest
You know it's interesting. 15 years ago or so I starting having problems with pains in my hands and difficulty gripping things. As I recall it didn't feel exactly like the joint pain I experience now. At the time, I was sent to a neurologist by my dr, and he said that it was not carpal tunnel (something about the wrong fingers being affected) but, after neurological testing, he diagnosed Repetitive Motion Injury (years working on computer keyboards). I wore wrist braces for about 6 months and since then have just been more conscious of ergonomics. I wonder if it was related somehow to RA? Point to ponder!
