Newly diagnoised with Inflammatory

My mother is suffering from Smoldering Myeloma or an advanced MGUS status or

remote possibility of active myeloma or Amyloidosis?. IgG Kappa = 1449 (this

reading was taken after consuming 20 dexamethasone tablets in a 4 day course)

She is treated in Hyderabad, India. Please note India does not have any

recognized MM specialist, but has excellent Medical Oncologists. Doctors in

India have not staged this. They are talking about it being in SMM. We have

taken 4 oncologist/hematologist opinions.

Current Symptoms/Problems:

Important Pattern: Right side of the body is the first to get the pain. For

e.g : Right leg Knee joint, Right Shoulder joint, Right hand wrist joint, Right

hand joint are the first to have pain. The pain later starts in the left side of

the corresponding parts.

She is currently not in a position to walk. Especially, she cannot bend or

straighten her legs. She has pains all over the body especially unexplained bone

joint pains. Right side joints are significantly more painful than their

counterparts (the left side joints). Right side leg finger joint (left most

finger or fat finger joint) is paining a lot.

Reports show that the kidneys are already dysfunctioning based on reports.

Extreme Leg joints pains means " if one stands straight and keep legs close

together the place where left leg touches the right leg " - the pain is on the

curvature of both the legs. As a thumb rule, the right leg join pain is

comparatively more than the left leg join pain.

The greatest problem with her case is the disease is not showing up clearly on

any of the tests except showing Urine protiens, slight M-spike 1.24 and X-RAY

suggested bone density decrease in cervical spine(Early degenerative changes

noted at C5 and C6), dorsal spine, pelvis.

Pattern#1: First my mother used to feel chills/cold, later that converts into

Fever and Shivering, later that converts into pains in Knee, ankle, thigh and

back. Currently she has Shoulder joints (right more pain/left is a little less

paining), Knee Joints, hand joints pains (right is paining, left is paining),

pain in the wrist joints. Back pain completely went away since 3/18/2008 after

using Dexamethosone. Legs and knee Pains, Pain in Ribs and hands, Used to get

Fever for every 3 days measuring 100-102F until 4/27/2008. When getting Fever,

she is unable to eat food. Little Chill, Thirsty, urgency to urinate when she is

having fever. When she gets fever she will urinate for 12 times during night and

there is an urgency to urinate otherwise she may need to urinate on bed.

Bone/Joints pain is severe when Fever is there. She prefers to drink ice water

or cold water during her chills.

Oncologist Ravindra Voteri confirmed that the current symptoms has nothing to

do with Cancer. Referred to Dr. J. C. Gurunath - Orthopedian, Rheumatology,

General Physician.

Prescribed below medicines

Sodium alendronate tablet Osteofos 70mg - weekly one - to prevent

osteoporosis in women who have undergone menopause

Lubrijoint plus 2 per day - It is good suppliment for bone and for

flexibility of joint. One tablet should be taken two times a day for minimum 2

months.

Mothers Profile: Treated in India, SMM-15% scattered plasma cells, Urine

protiens present, M-spike-1.24, currently on zometa, severe joint pains on

Shoulders,Hands, Legs and Foot joints, tested FNA fatpad NEGATIVE for

Amyloidosis.
