Guest guest
I take naproxen OTC 2 in the morning and 2 a night most of the time-as much for the anti inflammatory properties but I do definitely notice a difference if I don't take it-not so much now that I am taking the decadron. I occassionally will switch up and take ibupropen instead. AT this point I refuse to take anything stronger because I figure I have a long road ahead of me & I don't want to be dependent on anything stronger. I'm blessed with having a high pain threshold. I had a lot of hair loss with MTX and am just now getting a thick head back so I hope I don't have that to deal with again but probably will. Luckly I have fairly thick hair to start with. But everything I lost before has come back in gray and I don't want the chemical exposure so I'm not coloring it-at least at this point. I have been on enbrel while it is coming back in so I think mine was all the MTX. I may suggest to my doc the 10 mgs when I go back if its working-I hate takiing meds and they always start with the higher dose. Thanks for the input and hoping you are having a good day. linda a <rascalsniche@...> wrote: HI .... I've been on arava about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs now. Time flies when you're having fun...lol I used to take 20 mg....now I am cutting it down to 10 mg with the ok from my rheumy. The reason being was because of some stomach upset. Another thing I noticed about my meds is some hair thinning. My hair is baby fine anyway and any hair thinning is a problem for me. I asked the rheumy about it and he says it could be the enbrel, arava or my post menopausal self. It's not too bad but I do notice more on my brush then I used to. I am hoping since I increased my estrogen it will help some.... The arava has worked pretty well for me along with the enbrel and the 5 mg prednisone. Though I would like to get off the pred...Dr V tells me that I am on such a low dose.... Are you on any pain meds? Hope this helps some. Hugs..a > > a, I see you are on Arava-don't see it mentioned very often. My meds are enbrel, and decadron (similar to prednisone) and now he wants me to start Arava 20 mgs as I elected to stop Mtx several months back because of the extreme fatigue it was causing. Shortly after that was when I started the decadron. i'm continuing to have increased stiffness and nodules developing everywhere so the addition of arava. How long have you been on this regime? Any problems? I'm a little leary of starting a drug that stays in you system as long as the arava but if it helps that can be a good thing . Input from anyone would be appreciated. linda > > rascalsniche@... wrote: Hi Tammy...this is a. > > I am on enbrel and taking prednisone 5 mg and arava 10 mg. Guest guest
Hi ...the darvocet is one of the older pain killers and is supposed to be pretty safe and not a strong one. I take one in the morning for the morning stiffness and sometimes mid to late day for when the achies start to come back. He has prescribed three a day if needed but I am fine with two. And you never know if a flare will rear it's ugly head so good to have them. I would ask about the 10 mg arava and then if he needs to up it, he can. see how the bloodwork turns out. It works for me. He did tell me it causes stomach upset but now with the 10 mg, I'm good. Glad that you have nice thick hair....that's good when you have to take these kinds of meds. My hair is so fine and I don't think I have cut it for more than 20 yrs..just the bangs. When I come back in this world, I am asking for good hair like my sister got!! lol Hope you have a good day!
