Guest guest
I consult with an Early Head Start program and we were just told by our Pediatrician Advisor that we should not be serving any fresh fruit except for bananas to any infant under age 1. He stated it is because fresh fruit can carry clostridium spores (same reason we don't give honey under age 1). I understand than any fresh food can harbor bacteria, etc. but using good food handling practices is always advised(and for the most part these kiddos are " normal/healthy " children w/ no major health/immune system problems.) Am I missing something here? I have not ever heard/read, etc. that fresh fruits were to be restricted until age 1.
