I was in an abusive relationship, trying to finish school, working, and my mom was moving out since I had disgraced her so horribly. I was on my own and stressed out. Well, everything was well at my check ups, then around my 32nd week I had cramping and light bleeding. Two hours after getting to the hospital, my DS was born. He was 4 lbs 1 1/2 oz, 17 in long. He had been head down and ready to go. It all went so fast I had no pain meds and they had no time to do anything else but to let him come on out. He was in the NICU for about a month just eating and growing. He's 6 now and in kindergarten. Going through a mouthy stage right now. I moved and then met and married my DH. We decided to start ttc and within 5 mo I was pg. I was nervous that I'd have another preemie but was constantly told by everyone I bothered about it that my DS's early arrival was a fluke. Well, I went to my OB every 2 weeks. He had wanted to make me feel better otherwise I would have only gone the traditional once a month. I did everything I could to do things better in this pg. But, since I was told not to worry, I kept on working. At my 24 week u/s we discovered no fluid around the baby. I was whisked off to the peri and put on medications and bedrest and a diet (lots of salt, no msg, etc) to rebuild my fluid and ward off preterm labor. But, my cervix started to thin. I rebuilt the fluid and just when I thought I might get to carry a baby past 32 weeks, my water seriously broke. A day later, DS was born er c-scetion because his heart rate was dropping, he had the cord wrapped, and he was footling breech. My DH was at home with DS and had to get a sitter at 3am and then do the 2 hr drive to the hospital and missed it. At 1 lb 14 oz, 13 1/2 in long, my DS was a miracle. He was in the nICU for 2 months. He's now 10 1/2 mo. old and doing great. He isn't developing as fast as a full term baby, but he is getting there. At my 6 wk postpartum check, we scheduled the HSG and found the UU. My OB was like " There you go, that's why " . I want to have more children and now that I know about my UU, I can do the cerclage and take it easier. I'm not in a hurry, maybe a couple years from now. Maybe they'll find more they can do for me. Who knows. I hope this helps you.
