There is talk of making Soma a controlled sutbstance. I can't remember what

it breaks down into but it is narcotic like substances.

I didn't say it WAS a narcotic, I said it was like a narcotic like property.

Big difference.

Yes I know about the meds and the talk of changing it to a scheduled med. I

prescribe. It wasn't my intent to imply any misuse from you. I was just

pointing that out because someone mentioned having difficulty after stopping

it.

Actually, we just covered this in our DEA/FDA mandated class. It doesn't

break down into a narcotic, per se, but is highly addictive and popular among

drug abusers.

Soma did fine for me for years and then it started making me spacey. I

tried it with food and no difference so I stopped. I take the older Robaxin

now and that does fine for me. I have been wondering how the heck you

manage to work EMS with RA. I worked it many years ago and it was always so

hectic and hard lifting and work. At least my job is mostly paperwork with

a lot of walking.

Subject: [ ] Soma Question

I have taken two Soma every 4 hours since early wednesday morning. The

muscle spasms finally bbroke and I can finally stop taking them.

I was fine while on them, but off them...I've been temporarily benched. I'm

stuck in the dispatch center because my hands/arms are so shaky, it's as if

they don't belong

to me! My director, (and rightly so), doesn't want to take the chance that

I'll compromise patient care. I will get to return to doing what I do best

as soon as they stop. I keep hitting letters that I don't need, keep

overusing the ones I do an just generarrly making a mess of things... Anyone

else had this before?

OMG, I love soma. I got soma when I injured my back back in 95 while

lifting a patient that fell. I caught her with my arm. I knew if she

broke a bone at her age she would die. ( I seen it happen to an

ederly lady that broke her leg).

I sprained my back catching her and the doctor prescribed me soma. I

could never get them again. The doctors tell me thats only for

severe cases of strain. Maybe its for the good. I like them to much

haaaaaa.

Sorry to hear about your muscle spasms. I am so sorry dodge for what

you have to go through. Bless your heart.

I get them so bad I cry I asked the doctor for something and she

said hold on for a while. It's been a while I am going to bring it

up again. For the spasms not the soma lol. They are like charley

horses. I get them everywhere.

My actual diagnosis is AS, not RA, but the AS/Lupus/Fibro... That's all " mild "

for me. My biggest source of pain is burn pain. That and RSD.

Actually, we just covered this in our DEA/FDA mandated class. It doesn't break

down into a narcotic, per se, but is highly addictive and popular among drug

abusers. This of course, ruins it for the rest of us legitimate patients who

actually use our meds as prescribed.

And even if if did, seeing as how I take 8 now 9 schedule II narcotics daily, I

don't think that'd be an issue. :)

Yes, you are right there has been talk of making it a controlled substance for

years, and each time it gets shot down again.

Hi Dodge - my doctor didn't like giving me Soma because of its

addictive qualities. Sounds like your body is readjusting itself now

that you didn't need it anymore. Hope you feel better

soon......Doreen :)

I also have RSD and it is Reflexive Sympathetic Dystrophy, or Complex Regional
