Guest guest
Deebs, and group; I am so sorry Debbie and for your loss, pets are like family members. My heart goes out to you Deebs and laura. We have a siamese cat name t. She is 13 years old. She is a rescue cat. We love her so much. I was wondering how long cats live. 17 years is a long time. How was Nicky doing tward the end. And how long was he/she sick? t is doing ok. She is a little overweight but you would not tell she is 13 years old. WE just got another rescue cat. kloey was left on the side walk with her siblings. To young even to be taken from her mother. Kloey is doing fine and has doubled in weight since we got her. We had kloey for about 2 weeks now. I love animails. I believe animails go to heaven. Cause in the bible it says the animals on earth were made after the animails in heaven. Check it in Genisis. There is plenty of room in heaven. Now dont worry I doubt pestilence go to heaven. I hope not or it would not be heaven. I am doing pretty good. Got down to 63. Started out with 105 posts. Its only been an hour. I wait to answer some post cause someone may answer questions for me. I couldnt wait to answer this one. I feel for those who lose a pet. We get so close to our pets. They become family. gentle hugs everyone Clora

Guest guest
Thank you Clora. Nicky was a male and lived to be close to 18 years old. He became very frail in the end and couldn't do things so we had to put him to sleep. It was a tough decision. Taffy was overweight when she died recently, too. Guest guest
Debbie, My lab passed away seven years ago. He had cancer, and the doc could do no more for him. He was my rock, it was like losing my child. I have another lab now, she was rescued from a puppy mill. We've had her a little over a year now. She was a puppy maker, and no more, we had her spayed, soon as we got her. She is a wonderful dog, she is in the house, and goes wherever I go. God sent her to me, when I needed her the most. You will be able to love another one pet again, it just takes a little time. There are so many little ones that need us. You take care, and know I am thinking about you, Tawny
Guest guest
I had a cat who lived to be 20 before the Cancer caused her to have to be put to sleep. She actually told me she wanted to go to the vet. I came home from work and saw she was bleeding from the mouth. I saw a tooth on the counter. She could not eat. The next AM I put the cat carrier on the counter and she walked into it. I never have had a cat do that before. She was my daughters cat so I was hoping I could keep her going until Angie came for another visit. It was not to be though. The vet said he had never seen a cat that opened her mouth and let him examine her mouth before. He was expecting to have to tranquilize her. He called and told me to come in and I saw the cancer growing in her mouth. She had a lot of urinary track infections towards the end so her not eating I thought was that again and was planning to take her to the vet again. I have all rescue cats. Two were bottle fed, the rest were older. Guest guest
Cats will let you know..I lost my Sophie when she was 17. She was truly a " perfect " cat for 17 years. At the end when she became sick, she stopped eating. She became so weak & I had an IV at home and would insert the needle into the back of her neck and let the IV drip for 5 minutes just to get her some hydration. At the vet's office, they tried force feeding her and the vet told me that even in her weakened state, she was " defiant " and clamped her mouth closed and pulled back. He said, she's trying to tell us something. It was then that I had to let her go. When I had her at home during the illness, I was laying in bed one night and she came and laid on my chest with her face right to mine - she had never done that before. I believe she was saying goodbye to me. I am crying as I write this and that was over 3 years ago. I loved her and still miss her. They could find nothing wrong with her and the vet said she died of old age. Three months after Sophie passed, I adopted Pearl. She was an adult cat in a local no-kill shelter and I knew she would be passed over for the cuter kittens. She is such a joy and I love her dearly. She didn't replace Sophie in my heart, but she has a place there as well. To all who have lost pets..remember that they enriched your life far more than anyone imagines. I hope that you find a place in your heart for new friends over the years. Guest guest
Clora, maybe I held on with Sophie even though I knew it was time. Unfortunately, we try to protect ourselves from the hurt of a loss of a pet and sometimes forget about the pet. I was so distraught about so many things in my life and depended on her as my " friend " for so many years....one day, I was crying and I said to her, " Please don't leave me " and that was selfish. It was her time. She lived a very happy, long life and I treasured her and the gifts she gave to me. If this link works, you can see my Pearl on the Last Hope website with my letter: http://www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org/letters.htm and scroll down to the next to last letter dated 4/12/06. Enjoy the new kitten..if you can keep up with her! I'm sure that both your cats will be fine friends once they set their boundaries with one another. Guest guest
You're very sweet, Clora. I'm NO hero, believe me! Sophie was a dear friend and she took care of me just as I took care of her. I also don't watch Animal Planet for the same reason and if I hear a news report on TV, I mute the sound and walk out of the room. I do what I can to support Last Hope Animal Rescue where I adopted Pearl. I've often though of doing volunteer work, but I know that I would be heartbroken every single day. I donate household goods every time they have a flea market and am selling raffle tickets for their next raffle so I do what I can without becoming too close to the animals..it's all too sad for me to deal with and I admire the volunteers for their strength..they are truly angels on earth. I urge anyone who wants a pet to please go to the local shelter and save the life of an animal - there are so many older cats and dogs that remain homeless year after year. If you don't have a pet, you can't imagine the joy they can bring into your life..and it's good for your health :-) Dorothy (and Pearl) >^..^< _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of CLORA Sent: Sunday, August 31, 2008 3:30 PM Subject: [ ] Re: OT bad week for us Dorothy and group; Who is to say how long to hold on, not me. Guest guest
Dorothy and group; I am so sorry Dorothy I didnt mean to offend you. The more I hear from you the more I love you. I may say no more pets for me, we would always have a few pets. At least untill we can find a good homes for them. Our house must say leave your pet on our steps next to the address haaaaa. Last year this little grey cat showed up and we begin to feed him. IT GOT cold so we put a box and a heating pad out for him. About 4 months ago we got his shots and fixed. My husband named him Smokey lol. I don't want any pets but we have four haaaaaaa. We have found homes for about 20 cats and dogs in the last year. The kitten now I have (kloey) was left with a litter in front of the gas station store. We found homes for them and kept kloey haaaaaaaaa. We live in a small town and the aminail league here we know personally. These people that put aminails in harms way need to be caught and whipped. I have taken animails to the pound cause of a disease in the old neighborhood I was in. Nobody would claim them. We just moved into this house about 2 months ago and my husband has been feeding 2 cats that looked poorly. I have begged him to take them to the pound. I think the previous owners left them. Why else would they hang at our stepS? Only met one neighbor so far. With the RA I don't do much socialising. THe cats look much better, cliff is calling them Bob and Bill haaaaaaaa. Cliff is my hubby. Yes people we need to look out for these domestic animails. My best friends are walking on four feet haaaaaaa. They love us no matter what someone else has done to them. I am sorry for going on about this. I couldnt stop my self lol. gentle hugs Clora
