Guest guest
...you're right...the stress of waiting is the worse. I give myself a shot 2 x a week with the 25 mg..and it is not bad at all. No problem for me. I have to mix mine myself since I don't like the preservative in the pre mix. I know it will be fine....just like a flu shot. Hugs..paula ************** It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here. Guest guest
Hi katie! I am SOOOOO excited for you! Today may be the day that your life changes for the better! :-) Are you doing the syringe or the pen? I am a needlephobe so I do the Humira pen. The first was SCARY and exciting all at once.... The second was even more so but last week I did my 4th and it was old hat. And the fact that it HELPS is AWESOME! I hope you get the same results from Enbrel! Good luck! *~ Kami ~* [ ] Scared - First Shot of Enbrel Today Hi all! I have been waiting for this day for a month but now I am scared! I will be receiving my first Enbrel shot today. Can anyone tell me how bad the neddle really is? I am sure the fear of the unknown is worse than the needle! I hope to get some of my questions answered today and will hope, Enbrel will work for me. Take care,
Guest guest
It only hurts for a second and the rewards are amazing!!!! I hope that Enbrel does for you what it has done for me. You could stick me with that needle several times a day and it would still be more than worth it! Good luck! Pat > > Hi all! I have been waiting for this day for a month but now I am > scared! Guest guest
Hi and Group, The needle isnt bad. i do recommend that you take it out of the refrig a 1/2 hour before i take the shot - it takes some of the beginning sting out. I saw results right away. my pain went from a 10 to a 6 and with my pain meds it is barely noticable. Good luck and i hope you get the same results. my ra dr said if you dont get results with one try the other. humira didnt work for me but enbrel is so dont give up if it doesnt. good luck!!!!! shannon > > Thank you for the support! Guest guest
Paquet and and group; Omg, HAAAAAAAA, The pharmacy I use called and said my Humira would be delivered tomorrow by UPS. I use a delivery pharmacy. I thought we started our injections at the doctors. Today I go to the doctor and show her my TB TEST. It is ok. I had to get a tb test to start the humira injections. It is funny how below here the post are about injections. I will leave them so all can see. I am going to use the pen instead of the syringe, so my husband can help me with injections . He wont have anything to do with the syringe. He is squimish about syringes lol. Thank you group, It was this group that made me get on my rheumy to help me. They did it without realizing it haaaaaaaaa. Oh Barbara would be so happy for me. I wish she was here I miss her so much. Ok I am off to spartanburg to show my doctor my tb test. I will ask about taking the humira injections tomorrow. TAke care and god bless everyone. gentle kind hugs everyone Clora > I felt better within 6 hours! its amazing. Guest guest
Just to update everyone - I did not start Enbrel yesterday. In the last 6 weeks I have had so many tests, x-rays and lab work but some how they forgot the TB test!! I have to go back on Monday to get the TB test then have it read on Wednesday. If all is well (which I have no reason to believe it won't be) I will have my first shot next Wednesday. It was very disappointing but I can wait one week. My rhuemy put me on Prednosine 5 mg for a week until I start Enbrel - I hope it helps! So, now I have to wait another week with the fear of the needle on my shoulders > > > > Hi all! Guest guest
and Group; I am so sorry you cant take your enbrel injections now. I suppose it's a good thing I mentioned tb test. The nurse looked at mine but they was sending the humira anyway. I asked at the doctors if I can start the injections tomorrow. THey said yes. That is if the UPS delivers it tomorrow like the pharmacy said they would. Prednisone is so good. I am weaning off of it from taking it for 2 months. I hope its alright to mix the prednisone with the humira cause I wont be off the prednisone yet. RA is such a complicated arthritis. My grandmother had RA but she never complained. I didnt know that was RA then because I was only about 10 years old. I know it was RA now because she had knuckles that look like golf balls. I know RA pain ranges different from person to person. Grandma passed away about 36 years ago. ANd a lot has changed with RA since than. Today there is more help with pain than back than, I am sure or I hope so anyway. I am a grandma now. No one else in my family has RA. I seem to be the only one with it. I hope and pray no one else gets it in my family or any family as far as that is concerned. I guess I am rambling again lol. Guest guest
> > and Group; > Prednisone is so good. I am weaning off of it from taking it for 2 > months. Prednisone sounds pretty good to me right now. I was on the 5 day run of 60MG Prednisone and I felt like I could hit 70 home runs. Today I feel like I've been hit with a bat 70 times. Hips, knees and shoulders are all singing in unison and yesterday my wrists started joining the chorus. 200MG of Celebrex just ain't cutting it. I see the Rheumy for the first time a week from today and counting the days. Really not liking this RA stuff. My birthday is today (59) and wasn't planning on spending it this way. To think that 6 months ago I was walking 50-60 miles a month. Now I dread walking to my desk from the employee parking lot. At least I'm still working so I guess I need to get off the Pity Pot. Hope everyone has a pain free day and a great weekend. Bob

Guest guest
,  Thats terrible!! I'm sorry you have to wait again. I will tell you this...I hate needles/shots/drawing blood. I use to pass out but now can handle it a little better. I just make sure I look away and keep breathing. I always ask for the smallest needle and I give them the arm with the better vein. The TB test isn't too bad. Had mine 2 mths ago. The needle must have been small and it literally felt like your fingernail poking you. Kinda like a finger prick test. I don't know if anyone else had this problem but just to give you a heads up (and maybe someone can let me know if this is affliated with RA) I bleed from the injection site and since you can't press down on the spot(because it will squeeze out the stuff they just injected) we had a little bit of trouble stopping it.. It could have just been the nurse b/c she said " I've never seen this happen before " . WHAT NOT TO SAY TO A PATIENT!!! DUH!! Anyway...good luck and try to forget about it over the weekend. Paris [ ] Re: Scared - First Shot of Enbrel Today Just to update everyone - I did not start Enbrel yesterday. In the last 6 weeks I have had so many tests, x-rays and lab work but some how they forgot the TB test!! I have to go back on Monday to get the TB test then have it read on Wednesday.. If all is well (which I have no reason to believe it won't be) I will have my first shot next Wednesday. Guest guest
Paris, I think that you would be OK with the Sure Click. You don't see the needle. It just looks like a fat writing pen. You push the plunger, wait a couple of seconds and it injects. You would be fine, no needle to look at before or after and you do not see it go in. You just wouldn't be a good drug addict at all. I'm glad of that! Guest guest
Paris and Group; Paris I didnt know you are not suppose to press on the injection sight, I am so glad you mentioned it. I took my first humira shot yesterday. Omg, I barely hurt this morning. My neck is sore a little and The osteo in my back is really sore. But the humira feels like its trying to work lol. I hate it when a doctor or nurse says " never seen that happen before or why is it doing that. " What a great thing to tell a patient. We have to remember, doctors and nurses don't know everything and they are human too. I worked in a doctors office as a medical receptionist for some years. OMG I cant even say some of the mistakes we made. But it happens. ANd no matter how careful we are we still make mistakes. We count on our doctors and nurses to care for us. I know some of them may walk around like their gods gift to humanity. We can't let the few ruin our trust for the lot of them. Thats just like nationalities. I say there are a few bad in all. But there is much good in most. Thats why I love everyone (I let Jesus in my heart). When my friend and her husband came over from england to visit me I became very nervous waiting, when I realized I will be representing USA haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. It turned out to be a wonderful visit. She is a friend I met in my chat room I host. I told her we USA is not like us haaaaaaaaa. Guest guest
Tawny, how'd the enbrel go? I did the 25mg 2x wk and that needle was better than the 50 mg. needle. I think it was a finer gage needle. My sis puts an ice cube on her injection site for a bit to numb it. I think the pen thingy burns worse than the needles but that's what I'm used to. Hope you get some relief, girlfriend. You're in my prayers. love Jane > > Hi all! I have been waiting for this day for a month but now I am > scared! Guest guest
Hi Jane, I am only taking mtx right now. I'm hoping to start the Humira, at the end of the month. When hubby is home, he usually give me the Humira Pen in the arm. He messed up, and the med shot out all over the counter, zero in my arm. So, I only use two a month, I will have to wait until the next dose, bummer huh? I use to do the syringe, and I do like it better. The pen, goes in so fast, and burns like a ?#?##, sorry:) I might talk to the doc next time, just give me the syringe, please. With the syringe, you can inject slowly, and so it works much better. I hope you start feeling better, Tawny > > > > Hi all! I have been waiting for this day for a month but now I am > > scared!
