Guest guest
Tawny and group; I am so sorry you didnt get your injection right. When you get your injection dont set and wait for the pain to stop. I was going crazy waiting haaaaaaaaaaa. The next morning I was able to get out of bed easily. Ususally Its a battle. The pain is at its worst in the mornings for me. I waited all day. Finally I said heck with it. I was watching tv and suddenly realized no RA pain. I almost fell out of the bed getting to the living room to tell everyone. I gave up waiting and it happend. I remember one person said it worked for them in 6 hours. It took 24 hours to work for me. I remember someone saying it didnt work for them. I said no way you better work humira haaaaaaaaa. Oh you have already used the humira. gentle hugs Clora >
Guest guest
Hi Clora, Yes, I have used both Humira and Enbrel awhile back. When I first started Humira, it started working right away. I used it for about a year, when my doctor took me off the med right away. My lab work showed a low white blood cell count. I was on Plaquenil for awhile, and then mtx alone. Then I went on Enbrel, it worked for about six months, and then didn't feel much difference, so my doc took me off. I changed rheumy's, and so I'm back on Humira now. I still hurt, but I can still take care of myself, and keep up with my house, slowly. The last 4-5 years, my life has changed drastically. I've had more pain, then my entire life. But, I've realized that I need to deal with RA. I need to stop fighting it, and just get along with it, you know what I mean? If I don't feel like doing anything, then I pamper myself. I always have to limit my life, but I'm OK with it, most of the time. I still get depressed, but not like when I was first diagnosed. I just don't want someone to get down, because I tried the meds, and they didn't make me well. They do work, maybe not the way everyone wishes, but they keep you moving. I'm so happy your feeling good, you just hold on to it. Enjoy yourself, that is what it's all about. Hugs, Tawny > > Tawny and group; > > I am so sorry you didnt get your injection right. Guest guest
Tawny and group; Oh no. I hope I don't have problems with the humira it is making me feel so much better. I been on plaquenil and it doesn't help any at all. I am allergic to MTX. I am so sorry Tawny for your pain. Growing up I remember the dreaded word arthritis. My dad called it the arthur brothers haaaaaaaaa. If some one got an ache he would say one of the arthur brothers. Before he passed away his knees hurt really bad. Only thing the doctor gave him was darvocets. I had no Idea one could see a specialist for this pain till my primary doctor sent me to one. Our group is what made me realize I could get something better for this pain. I can deal with the pain I do have. I have been in agony. I know exactly what you mean. Our heat pump went out and the pc is in the livig room. I have a little air conditioner in my bedroom window. The living room is so hot. It was 80 or 90 today. I am hoping we get some storms from Ike. Its usually just regular storms. It's the tornados we have to worry about in South Carolina. Even if they get the heat pump working we cant use the air. Our electric bill was over $180.00. Thats to much for our income. Tawny I will take anything for this pain. I don't even question the doctor. I have fibromyalgia and I take lyrcia and it works great. Most people can't take lyrcia. Take care everyone. I read all the post this morning now I am answering the ones I red flagged in the evening while its cooler. I hope you have a better day Tawny your a sweet caring person gentle kind hugs Clora > Hi Clora, > > Yes, I have used both Humira and Enbrel awhile back. Guest guest
Hi Clora, Just keep positive, girl! When I first started on Humira, it worked for quite awhile. I'm sure it will work a LONG time for you. Were all different, and so the meds work well on one person, and not on the other, so don't give it another thought, please:) Sorry to hear your allergic to the mtx. The two combo of meds, (Humira and mtx), suppose to have greater results. There should be another med you can take along with Humira. The Plaquenil does take awhile to start working. I stayed on it for about 6-8 months, and got no results. My body is just stubborn, I suppose. LOL, I have heard the term, " good ole' arthur. " I'm sorry your dad had to suffer so much. People have a better chance today, with all these new meds. I know they are working on newer meds every day. I am glad you found this group, and got some help. This is a truly amazing group, and with for a moderator, and all the helpful informaton from others, we can do right with our disease. I've heard Lyrica helps painful fibro. I'm like you, I will try anything once,if it will give relief. Your body can only take so much of pain. I remember when I first went to my rheumy. He told me, that he could tell I was in pain, by my face. Now, since I've had RA for quite awhile, I can see it myself. I'm sorry to hear your heat pump is out, and your electric bill is high. I hope you get some relief soon. I live in OK, and we've been having some cooler temps, and were getting a lot of flooding from the Ike storm. We get the tornado's too! I've been in a few tornado's, and they don't get any easier. You take care, and know I will keep you in my prayers. Hope you have a good day tomorrow, Tawny > > Tawny and group; > > Oh no. Guest guest
TAwny and group; Good morning Tawny. Its 7 am and its still dark out a good sign winter is near. Today I am answering my post as they come in, instead of redflagging them. Its nice and cool in the living room. I hope the The man comes out and fixes the air pump today. Thanks, I will keep positive. I know how being postive is better for our bodies. My dad may have went to the dotors a dozen times in his life, he was a very healthy person. Daddy never had a headache in his life till the end that is pretty good. He did laugh and talk about the Aurther brothers all my life. Yes, I am so glad I found this group. EVeryone seems to want to help each other. is a very kind person to run a group. I got a picture of myself with a friend and was shock at the pain I saw on my face. It was very painful to stand to take the picture back than. so, I know what you mean by having pain shown on our face. Sorry to hear about all the flooding your way. I watched the news yesterday and was sad at the destruction Ike had caused. I paid the electric bill. THis month I will be turning things off more often. Everything helps a little if you dont need it dont run it lol. My mom is 75 and she has no arther brothers lol. I believe its her praying that made her whole. She had a lot of pain about 20 years ago. But she kept fasting and praying. I am better at praying than I ever was lol. Having a minister for a mom has its quirks lol. Have a better today Tawny and it was so good hearing from you. God bless and take care everyone. gentle kind hugs Clora > Hi Clora, > > Just keep positive, girl! Guest guest
Hi Clora, It sounds like your having a beautiful day,and your a early riser. My sleeping habit, is screwed up right now. My hubby is gone 3-4 days working, so I stay up at night. I go to bed around 5AM, and back up around noon. I might catch a nap if I can. I didn't use to be so scared, but we live in a BIG house, with a lot of doors and windows, so I don't feel real safe. There have been a lot of home invasions, and so here I am. It's very good to stay positive, but it isn't easy. Stress is so bad on RA, and that is also impossible at times. Did you get to walk this morning? I'm so proud of you, it will be good for you, body and soul. I have been watching the news, IKE has caused so much damage. We did get some rain, and some areas have a lot of flooding. We need to keep all our friends, and everyone in the path of that terrible storm, in our prayers. Yes, you can't wash the pain off your face. I'm having a lot of pain in my ribs, which it happens sometimes. I just can't seem to do anything. My hubby just laid his arm on my rib area the other night, and the pain was SO bad. I didn't want to say anything, but I did, I just couldn't take anymore. It's so sad really. Our loved ones don't know what were dealing with. I try not to say too much, like my pain, and all. I know my hubby and kids are tired of hearing it. That is why I like to have friends that know what I'm going through on a daily basis. We can chat all day, about our old body. Well, I better close for now. You have a nice day, and hope you keep up the walking, Tawny > > TAwny and group; > > Good morning Tawny. Its 7 am and its still dark out a good sign > winter is near. Guest guest
Tanwny and group; Thank you for relplying Tawny. And group I read all you post. I feel so sad for those of us that have pain. Constant pain to deal with. I have terrible migraines and I am out of lortabs, asprins, oh my ther is ssome aleve. Oh my goodness the print is so small one cant even see it with a magnafying glass. I wait 4 to 6 hours befoe taking any of them. Its been about 5 hours now. I even look at a clock when ever I take my meds to be certain I don't overdose. Tawny my sleeping was messed up my entire life. I envied people who could get up early. I was so tired I couldnt sleepp at night and I couldnt stay awake during the day haaaaaaaaa. About a year ago my doctor sent me for a sleep study. I have sleep apnea. Now I sleep with a c-pap and I sleep like a normal person sshould. I go to sleep about midnight and get up between 6 and 9 am. I stay awake all day and I am not falling asleep sitting at my desk anymore. I am so happy for this. I was with out medical insurance for many years. I couldnt hold jobs down because I hurt all the time. ( from fibromyalgia didnt know I it at the time). I think a lot of people wouldnt become disabled if we had medical insurance to help us. It was very pretty today and I do take each day one at a time. I wonder what you can do to make sure no one can break in. I never had that problem of being scared alone. Of course all the windows was locked and the shot gun was near by haaaaaaa. No, I didnt get to walk outside this morning. I did go out on the steps and watch the sun rise. It was very beautiful. I remember the times I watched the sun set at lake erie when we was fishing. It looked like the sun was slowly sinking into the lake. It was so grand to watch. I am so sorry your having pain Tawny I know how you feel. My neck hurts all the time and the osteo and headaches seem to take turns hurting haaaaaaaaa. Got to laugh about it a little lol. I Know my oldest daughter hates to hear me complain about pain so I dont anymore I know exactly what you mean. My husband looks for ways to make the pain go away. He will say take something or can I rub you down with bengay. He even complained to the rheumy about my pain haaaaaaaaaa. I read about everyones pain here and I surley can relate to them. I want to help everyone. I can pray and I do that all the time. It seems like since my RA pain is gone now, my headaaches are worse or more noticeable. I feel so weak. I think I become lazy since I havent done anything in the past year. I will tell my rheumy when I see her how fatigued I feel. I am not so much sleepy as I am weak. I plan to walk to the mail box and back tomorrow. I am even going to get dressed. I stay in my gown most of the day. I feel like whats the use getting dressed I don't go anywhere. I will try a little each day. This morning I did go outside and watched the sun come up. I remember the days I ran around doing everything. I may not get to that again but I really want to do more than I am now. Sorry for complaining so much. I am so glad I have you guys to listen and understand me. TAwny I pray you feel better hon. Your such a darling person. gentle kind hugs everyone Clora
Guest guest
Clora, Sorry your having migraines, and out of meds for it. The Humira can cause headaches, that is one of the side effects. Unless, you normally have migraines. You might have the doctor prescribe something for you. I know what you mean about reading the small print. My eyesight is bad now, and it's even hard to see with my bifocals. Speaking of meds, I posted about a gel, " Voltaren Gel " , that stuff works great! It is a prescription med, you might ask your doc next time. I've been having horrible pain in my neck and shoulders, and after putting it on, the pain is almost gone. You are right, everyone should be able to have health insurance. But, I don't think it will happen, not for a long time. Like you, I never really had insurance. When I did, I had a quack, so you know how that goes. I would have liked to have known years ago I had RA, I would probably be able to do more today. Don't feel like your complaining, cause your not. I usually stay in my pj's too. Not a lot you can do when you hurt all the time, and like you said, we never go anywhere. Glad you were able to enjoy the morning, watching the sun come up, that is amazing. Well, enjoy your evening, and hope your headache goes away. That is no fun, take care, Tawny > > Tanwny and group; > > Thank you for relplying Tawny. And group I read all you post. Guest guest
Tawney and group; Awe thank you TAwney. I was on the pc early yesterday morning and I spilled my drink on the keyboard. I could text for a few minutes than the letter s would come out sa and then the x came out xz. I was letting one of the paltalk group know my keyboard was messed up and I would be back to my chat room when it got fixed or I got a new one. Bye 7 pm I was sobbing for my pc haaaaaaaaaa. My husband took 40 dollars out of his special savings and bought me a keyboard. We try to out save each other haaaaaaaaaaa. I only had about 10 dollars in my special savings. I put my drink on the other side of the desk now. I went to the doctor for my headaches again! I been seeing him about 7 months for these aweful headaches. They last for a few weeks than let up. He gave me a stronger dose of lortabs, and since they are the worse when I wake up he is sending me back for the sleep study. When I first saw him for the headaches he did a lot of tests. They all came out ok. No tumers or systs in my head. He said there was a pylop in my sinus cavity, he said its not in a place that would cause headaches, and not to worry about it. I can walk so much better since I took the Hummira injections. I notice yesterday morning I was hurting more. The Humirra is wearing off. I get my next injection Friday. I didnt know the injections wear off before the 2 weeks was up. I am off of the prednisone now. I didnt get up early this morning. My husband said come on hon you want some coffee. I said yes. He said well get up. Its almost 10 am, your sleeping later. Its the prednisone . It gave me insominia a little. But its all wore off. I did gain 13 pounds while on it. So I am glad there is something else for the pain. I am able to walk better since I am on the humirra now. I noticed that when I was going to the doctors yesterday. I got a good walk in while I was out yesterday. More than usual. I hope to walk a little each day now. When I was little my grandma had RA. I didnt know it was RA, but I knew it was one of the arthur brothers. I hoped I would never get it cause grandma had large marble size growths on her knuckles. I am the only one of a family of 10 that has RA. I thank God no one else has it in my family. RA is a monster and the worse arthritis you can get according the what I read. I hope you can find the right cocktail Tawney. My shoulders and neck hurts also. Feel better hon. Good to be back group. I got many post to read today. I love to see so many posts to read. Guest guest
Clora I noticed you writing about headaches, i dont know if your the same but i get headaches that i feel starting and then they build up until so bad i have to go to bed, it comes up the back of my head and then to the front i almost feel like im wearing a hat thats to tight! my doc says its caused by the arthritis and it comes from all the inflammation in our shoulders and necks. I did go on to develop problems with my neck and now when my neck is bad i get a headache so it seems the doc was right!! I use a cold facecloth or eyemask and lie down when mine is bad as painkillers dont do much for it Sharon xx [ ] Re: Scared - First Shot of Enbrel Today Tawney and group; Awe thank you TAwney. Guest guest
hi sharon, my dr, said the same thing about ra & headaches. i have migraines as well though but i can tell the difference. for my migraines i take axert it works really good. god bless, melyndagamez 9/17/08 8:50p.m.cdt [ ] Re: Scared - First Shot of Enbrel Today Tawney and group; Awe thank you TAwney. I look forward to hear from all of you. gentle hugs Clora > > Sorry your having migraines, and out of meds for it. The Humira can > cause headaches, that is one of the side effects. Unless, you > normally have migraines. You might have the doctor prescribe > something for you. > I know what you mean about reading the small print. My eyesight is > bad now, and it's even hard to see with my bifocals. > Speaking of meds, I posted about a gel, " Voltaren Gel " , that stuff >
Guest guest
Clora, I am so happy hubby got you another keyboard. I have been thinking about you. So, you went to the doctor, and you got some Lortab for your headaches, I hope the med helps you. Sorry, your hurting, but your Humira shot will be Friday. I hope it helps. When I first started Humira, it worked really well, but when it was about time for the next one, I would notice the pain coming back. Then, after awhile, I started taking it every week. It worked again, for a little while, and then it stopped. I then went back to every two weeks, until I had problems with my white count. I look at the meds differently now. The commercials for the biologice meds, are so blown up. I wish, we could all start dancing, and wearing heels! I mean for real, lol The med, helps us in it's own little way. We can get out of bed, and dress ourselves. We can walk around the house, and fix breakfast. Just little things that mean a lot. That is how I look at the biologic meds. I'm not really looking for a miracle, but if it happens, I will take it. So, don't give up, girl! It will get better, I promise. You will feel better this weekend, I pray. I've been in bed for awhile. Just been tired, and sick feeling. I'm also having a problem with my heel, I can't walk on it. It's bothered me for awhile, but I just deal with it. But, not anymore, when I walk on it, my ankle swells. I see a foot doc next Tue, so until then, I'm hobblin' real bad. So,,,,you just take care of yourself. Take that Humira tomorrow, and let us know how your doing. Bless, Tawny > > Tawney and group; > > Awe thank you TAwney. Guest guest
Tawny and group; Thanks Tawny. I am not going to eat when I am on the pc any more, I can't get over how free moving the new keys are. Yes I got some lortabs for my headaches but he is sending me for another sleep study. He thinks the headaches has something to do with my sleep pap so we will find out about that in a month or so. So it is normal for the pain to start coming back a few days before the next injection. Your saying stay on the humira if I can. I hope my blood counts stays normal. At least I know what to expect. Haaaaaaaaa, I talked about the commercials when I first joined the group. It was about taking some over the counter medicine. TAke this and there was an old lady holding her hands in pain. The next scene she was running playing ball with her kids after taking the meds. I wish I could take over the counter meds than go outside and play ball. I am so sorry about your heel. I would have pain in my heels when I use to work if I was on my feet all day. Yes it would be so nice if we could do the things around the house like we use to. I hope to do things around the house. I guess I will never be able to do it like I use to. I really took it for granted my ability years ago. I really believed those commercials too in my teens. haaaaa. I wont give up, thank you tawny. Our group keeps me going. I know about going to bed being tired and not feeling good. When you feel better, you will be able to get up. Thats how I do it now. Guest guest
Hi Clora, I sometimes put my drink near the PC. I'm sure the new keyboard is a lot better for you. I'm glad you are doing the sleep study, and they can find out why your having headaches. I could tell when it was time for the next injection. Yes, stay on the Humira, as long as you can. If your able to get around a little better, and have more energy, I would say its working. You have to be on something to stop the progression of the disease. I don't think it will totally stop all your pain, you are still going to have some problems, that is just RA. People go into remission, and I hope you are one of them. We just keep on going, and do the best we can. I do believe in meds to help control the disease. Oh, those commercials, lol I know the one your talking about, how weird, lol The Aleve commercials are also misleading. I don't really take care of myself, like I should. I have so much to do, and I have always been one to be on my feet all the time. It's so hard for me to just sit down, cause my mind is racing what needs to be done. I'm hoping the foot doc will help me out, but not sure if he can do much. I take Lortab for the pain. I have DDG really bad in my neck and back, so I take Flexeril for my neck pain. I take Neurontin for the pain I have in my leg. It works very well for me, and I've heard its good for fibro too. Anywho, you have a lot of people here who love you, and care for you. Just be strong, don't give up to RA. Don't let it rule, even when you feel real bad, just take care of yourself. Gentle hugs, Tawny > > Tawny and group; > > > Thanks Tawny. Guest guest
Clora, I'm on humira, and so far it seems to be working. I hope you can get some answers on your headaches soon, from your sleep study. There is some reason for you to have them. They have some injection for migraines can't think of the name, has your doctor ever talked to you about a med to help, to get some relief? It is hard to relieve stress. I hope the gel helps you, it works great for me. I would love to find that gel OTC, but not here in the US. I read where its OTC in some countries, like Australia. > > >
