" Pureeing food is processing them. So parents should be weary of pureeing

Yes, as a matter of fact, parents should be aware of alternatives to

pureeing their baby's first foods, and in many cases it isn't the optimal

route, although not because they're " processed " ;-)

Again, not related to the point I was making, but interesting discussion

nonetheless! Have a good day,

The controversy about processed baby food is not that we are paying a

corporation to mash up fruits and veggies and safely package them. The nutrition

controversy lies in the fact that baby food companies start with a fruit or

veggie but then add thickeners, colorings, flavorings, preservatives and in some

cases sugar. This has become the norm for feeding an infant.

I continue to argue that a home mashed banana or green bean is infinitely

superior to a jar of mashed banana or jar of green beans.

I feel it is part of my scope of practice to guide the public to make their own

foods when possible.
