Guest guest
Insurance compainies in US also are very reluctant to accept the cost of these drugs....many just won't so it isn't a problem just with socialized medicine, but a problem of medical care outpricing our ability to pay for it or for many to take advantage of the advances... [Editor's Note: An excellent point (above). Whether it's de jure (the results of regulation/policy, and well-meaning but inefficiently bureaucratic) as with socialized medicine, or de facto (the results of the ruthlessness of the " capital over people " laissez faire, zero-sum game, the so-called " free market " ) as is the case in the U.S., the results are the same (although for different socioeconomic sets of people): patients who desperately need the medicine are denied its benefits. There must be a better way than both. Here in Australia, PA sufferers still do not have subsidized access to any biologics, and full cost is prohibitive. Working with the Arthritis Foundation of Australia, we have managed to have Enbrel subsidized for rheumatoid arthritis, but the prescribing restrictions the government placed on it means very few RAs even will have access to it. Us PAs are so far back in the race that the biologics have not even been approved yet for marketing in Australia for PA, let alone being subsidized. I, personally, am running out of steam, and am losing the will to continue the fight, and I cannot seem to get even the Foundation more motivated to fight for PA. We are the minority arthritis sufferers with no real voice. Sorry, but my frustration grows as I continue to read how successful the biologics are. Regards, Gordon [Ed. Note: Yes, you have my fullest sympathy Gordon. That's unfortunately what happens with socialized medicine. I believe our friends in Canada and the UK have the same problem for the same reason - unless they happen to have their own private health insurance policy. Several members have mentioned that some of the drug manufacturers of these biologics have programs in place that provide the medications for free to those not covered by their health insurance policies. I would urge you to contact the manufacturers of these drugs and find out if they might be able to help you, even if it means moving out of Australia temporarily. Guest guest
Why don't you go to your regular doc and ask for Minocin or Keflex(Cephalexin). The med your are on is very toxic. Also remember that when you take any antibiotic (and any toxic drug like the ones you take) you also need to treat the candida w/high doses of Probiotics. I sent my son who was displaying the same symptoms as I do Keflex, his IBS, irregular heart beat, joint pain, chronic sinus infection, etc are disappearing. I also sent him Probiotics, garlic, and powder Vit C to treat the candida. Also, anytime you take methotrexate, or any other toxic drug you should be taking Probotics as well as sores are very common. Cancer patients that are on chemo, are advised to take Probotics. Always take probotics 3 hours before or after. I take probiotics 3-4 times a day. I also drink a large glass of powder Vit C w/filtered water. I also take garlic pills as all these things help fight candida. I do blood work today, then maybe I can take celebrex again. so far Im mostly doing stretches and using a heating pad (alot) but Im still working hard on the farm and get very sore but keep going. Guest guest
Dear phine, You are killing yourself with all those toxic meds. Stop and get a doc to prescribe some antibiotics and start healing. Probiotics and garlic are great for the digestive system and for keeping your pH balanced. Get off all that other crap as fast as you can w/o going into withdrawal and don't let any doc talk you back into it. Your health is in your own hands. Do the research, read the books by Scammell and Dr. Brown. Read the posts on www.roadback.com. as well as the ones on this site. Get familiar with the " Infectious Theory " and " The antibiotic protocol " , and get on the road back to health. Good Luck! Guest guest
I only take Keflex(Cephalexin) which is an antibiotic. Minocin did not work for me. I take Probotics ,garlic, and oil of oregano to keep the yeast in check, as if you don't keep the yeast/candida in check other problems arise. Because I have been doing this regiment since last year, I see a marked improvement, My AP Doc, recommended 3 probiotics , and 2 oil of oregano 3 times a day. I stopped going to conveniently docs, years ago, other than for blood work, and reg check-ups. I saw that they were just pill pushers for the pharmaceutical Co. and didn't care about me. In fact, I was reviewing my blood work from 1996, and saw I had Wegeners (only an Nuclear blood test can detect it). Hand written by technician stated, I had it. The doc NEVER even blinked an eye, but my mother died last Nov. form Wegeners. So you see I have been suspicious of Docs since 1996, as I could feel and see what was happening to my body, but the doc kept on prescribing Prozacs, and pain med. Everything my I got an infection, and had to be put on antibiotic, the doc was reluctant to give me a prescription. I would tell him, I felt I was getting rid of what was ailing me , starting from my feet on up when I took the antibiotic. But he told me he didn't like prescribing the antibiotics, so I started going to Mex, (9 hr drive 1 way) and getting my own. I lived w/the pain, and sick feeling, so I knew what worked and what didn't. In 2001 I started going to a Doc who would subscribe the antibiotics. I kept on reading more from this group, incorporating other things, and now I just go to my holistic Doc, and get my antibiotics over the Internet. I even got my son on the same program, and ordered the same antibiotic for my son 2 months ago, and he is feeling so much better. mike rosner <martysfolks2004@...> wrote: Dear phine, You are killing yourself with all those toxic meds. Guest guest
If you have inactive TB (dormant, but in your system), Humira can cause the TB to reactivate. I had the same tests for Remicade as well. Di
Guest guest
Clora, They do the tuberculosis (TB) test to make sure you don't have latent TB. If a person has latent TB, that means that person has been infected with TB in the past, but his or her body was able to prevent the infection from spreading and causing serious symptoms (tuberculosis disease). The body is keeping the TB under wraps. The anti-TNF inhibitors such as Humira can cause the TB infection to " reactivate, " meaning that latent TB could develop into active TB.
