I am a big boat rocker, too, I just learned to do it on my " own time " not

at events others worked on :)

I have to smile at your comments. For the last twenty years I have lived in

El Paso TX a 10-12 hour road trip to any real lefislative fundraisers. El

Paso is so loved by Texas that when the state published a map without El

Paso on it, it was left as is. Right now I am 378 air miles from Anchorage

which is about 780 miles from the state capital of Alaska. I was active in

Conn. but that was more then twenty years ago. Even then we where told not to

rock the boat and not to upset anyone. Don't ever questions anyone

nutritional education in the news ADA might get sued. I have had congressmen

send

replys to me stating that Nursing Home Administrators are better able to

determine who should review diets then dietitians. Some of us remember when

three hot meals a day in a nursing home ment hot oatmeal for all three

meals. The ketchup as a vegetable contraversy got a reply that is was none of

my

business. I just got tired of always being told by the ADA not to

rock the boat, be nice. It is a standing joke with the AKDA as I attend

the meeting about every year on who gets to as me to rejoin ADA. The year

the lovely ADA rep after talking about the evidenced based library when

questioned about using it by a intern, snapped back " You damn well better use

it. " No one asked me that year. I really felt sorry for that poor intern and

the program director. Unfortunelty from what I have seen that is about

par for the course for ADA reps. I am not complaining, I am just tired of

being told if your not active you are part of the problem on one hand and

don't rock the boat, don't make that opposition angry they have deep pockets.

So we are where we are. I think if you really look around there are so many

of us who have just written off ADA as a do nothing organization just

comitted to keep Chicago's status quo. Again no one really wants to rock the

boat

after all ADA controls CDR and you might lose your RD.

So they told you NOT to quietly attend legislative fundraisers in a show

of support for legislators willing to champion our cause?

Look:

I find myself regretting that I didn't clear my schedule for these

activities to support my comrades in weight loss!

I don't find myself bitterly complaining that ther few folks swinging the

axe could not chop down the sequoia!

Let's focus on how to help them!

Re: Re: Reimbursement for Obesity Counseling: So What?

Jackie,

Where were you? Did you submit a public comment? ADA did submit comments.

are frequently asked to send out letters to our represenatives in Congress

but dead slience on this one. All Medicare changes have a public comment

peroid, where was ADA at this time?
