Guest guest
-YAY!! Ann's back!!! Oh sweetie...as I said to you in my other email ... Marta is in the " freak of nature " side of the camp with how easily she breezed through the tummy tuck experience. <grin> Most of us fall somewhere in the grey area of I couldn't walk right for weeks to I had complications to OMG it hurt like HELL. (uh..that would be me at the far end of the spectrum) You come join us in the " OMG this hurts " camp. We have a nice comfy chair for you with lots of pillows. We wont make fun of you when you curse the fact that the Vicodan only lasts 3 hours. We wont laugh when you cough. We will pass the chocolate to you so you don't have to reach. Cause that's what good girlfriends do. So good to have you back. Take care of yourself. It gets better!!!! And I do have to say...now I can say... " It was worth it " . Guest guest
Tsk! Ann, sweetie, I made sure to tell EVERYONE on the group how much pain I was in from my tuck! I just said the recovery was quicker. But, did you listen to me? Noooooooo! You had to learn for yourself! (I'm just teasing you, of course!) I'm glad it's getting better for you and how cool that Dr. K removed 12 pounds from you! Wow! I only got 6 taken from me. Take care of yourself and recovery quickly, okay? Big hug! Guest guest
> So what's average? I mean Ann lost 12 lbs of flab, Tracey lost 6. =============================== From the tummy tuck alone it varies greatly...You should fall somewhere between 3 and 20 pounds of skin removed. Mel, your getting tooo hung up on " numbers " They are meaningless. You will have the tuck when it's right for YOU. And your weight will be what it will be. Either you've stopped losing wieght...so that makes it the right time. Or, you have a problem that needs taken care of like a hernia repair, or so much redundant skin that it is causing problems that it becomes the right time to have the tuck... How soon can you have additional Elective surgeries after the hyst.? That depends on you...how fast you heal, how are your labs responding, are you too low on Iron, protein.....But if all goes well and your lab values start to go back up, I don't see why you can't have surgery around...oh...lets say...AUGUST! Guest guest
Hi Mel! I don't know if there is an average. I had a hernia so it was hard to tell how much hanging skin I really had. I'm not sure what makes the difference. Guest guest
> So what's average? I mean Ann lost 12 lbs of flab, Tracey lost 6. Mel, I only had about 4 1/2 lbs of skin taken off. I know it sounds light, but remember, mine was mostly skin and not much fat over the hernias because it was very stretched and thin. Marta who came home from the TT about twelve lbs *heavier* than when she left home! lol!
Guest guest
.....So should I > plan on Thursday to get there? Or Marta, is that too long? Mel, don't worry about it. You can stay as long as you need to, no problem. I figure you might be here ten days or so? You will probably be busy being a tourist, also. Guest guest
They took off exactly 2 lbs, 11 oz of skin when they did my hernia repair and TT, Ray remembers that was what Dr Z came out and told him. It is AMAZING that my hanging tummy that felt like it weighed 20 lbs was barely 3!!! Dr Z told us that they used to WAY overestimate how much weight a person would lose during a TT, but he said it is usually a lot less then you expect it to be. Cindee > > So what's average? Jerry, My support person won't be staying with me at the hospital if it's the friend from Santa Clarita. But Lord knows, I've emptied plenty of drain bulbs. Had one in from August 28 till end of October last year!! lol As for being drugged up...NOT! The less the better with me. Only like the drugs at bedtime so I can sleep at night. Glad they are private rooms. I really don't like having to share a room with a complete stranger when I'm in pain and cranky. Especially when they snore like a fog horn! Oh, wait, maybe that's me! Oops.... Hugs, Laurie
Guest guest
, I'm so sorry about the death of your grandmother, and also the fact that you have to have surgery and have to postpone the use of Remicade. I'll be sending positive thoughts your way. Sue On Thursday, August 21, 2008, at 08:30 PM, wrote: > > I don't mean to be a stranger, I just have alot on my plate at the > moment. Guest guest
, I had saved this message to respond and just realized this morning that I never did!!!! So sorry. My heart goes out to you about your grandmother. I pray that your grief is getting a little better. All of my grandparents were gone by age 11. I wish there had been some way that could have been different. My mother's mom died 4 days before my 4th Bday, but thank God I do still remember her. Amazing, I can't remember to take my meds! I know that you have had your surgery and I hope that you are recouping well. This sounds simple and I know it is not, but please take it easy. Healing correctly is so important. Please don't think that I didn't take notice or care. I just got too wrappped up in myself, I guess. I pray that you have a blessed day, Shirley > > Hi everyone...hope you are doing well and being as pain free as > possible. Sorry, I haven't been on here much. Guest guest
Shirley, Thanks for your prayers. My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. I know I need to heal completely...I am impatient, which gets me into trouble alot. I try to do things too soon and I tend to make myself worse. Thank you for your support. > > > > Hi everyone...hope you are doing well and being as pain free as > > possible. Sorry, I haven't been on here much.
