My 8 y/o niece with known asthma, when visiting, noted my canned pineapple

in the cupboard and asked if she could have some for a snack. I said, " Of

course, but I also have fresh pineapple in the fridge. " She replied, " No,

I can't eat fresh, it makes my mouth and throat burn and upsets my stomach,

but I can eat canned. " I recognized immediately that SHE knew the

sympoms of OAS, but just didn't know the name of it. (Her parents thought she

was

just being picky; So, I informed them what OAS was, and to trust their

daughter.)

Very interesting paper which mentions that some food allergy symptoms can

be only gastrointestinal like nauseas, vomits, abdominal pain.

I am also looking for more papers about food allergies management since we

have a patient with profilin allergy.

Any input will be welcomed.
