Guest guest
My doctor said there is a good chance that my girls can have problems later on since arthritis runs in our family. My 17yo has some skin problem that the doctor said has something to do with the fact I have RA, no its not eczema, that would be to easy. Something about the fact that she can have an unactive arthritis gene or something. I am not very good at all the medical stuff. I just know that the doctors tell me its very important to let the kid's doctors know that I have very active RA when they are seen. Tammie In a message dated 5/21/2008 2:18:33 P.M. Guest guest
Hi, Jody! I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but RA certainly is running in my family. My daughter was diagnosed several years ago, before she turned 30. A few years later, in my mid-fifties, it hit me like a ton of bricks. This past year, my daughter's 10 year old son was diagnosed. I really beat myself up over that! I know it's not my fault, but nobody wants their children or grandchildren to inherit RA. Just be sure they know what to watch for, & try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Take care! Judy --- In , " J. Poljanski " <jpoljanski@...> wrote: > > Hi there.... it's Jody. Guest guest
-Tammie, I read that these diseases are not directly inherited but husband's father has psoriasis and the arthritis that goes with it. My husband has PA, I have PA,RA and now my 9 yo son has asthma, skin rashes and stiff hands in the am. I think in some cases it might be inherited. I for sure think the Epsteinj-Barr virus can set it off. The new book Autoimmune Diseases says that EBV is a huge culprit and one cannot have Lupus without having been infected.
