Guest guest
Hi , I drink too, but in major moderation. I hate beer and wine but I love a good coctail when I'm out to dinner. I've discussed this in detail with my rheumy and he know and has said " off the record " that he's comfortable with me having a coctail on the weekends. I don't abuse it, I usually only have at max 3 a month, usually 2 but after 8 years of only 2 a year, I had had it. I take mtx and remicade and my labs are done every other month. Just my 2 cents too, mary in pa [ ] Re:RESEARCH - Alcohol consumption is associated with decreased risk of I have something to say on this topic and some or most may disagree. I am a beer drinker. I have been for years. That is what we do, we get together, cook out and drink beer. I drink probably 4 days out of the week. I feel worse, hurt more and I am more stiff the days after not drinking. I have been in bed 2 days this week and had to go and get a shot in my back it hurt so bad...my 21 year old daughter looked at me last night and said. Mom you havent drank a beer all week. I dont always feel like drinking, so there is some truth around this theory..At first my concern was the meds and alcohol on my liver together ???? I think drinking beer, is probably less harmful to my liver than some of my meds ?? That is my only concern with it.. thought I would give my 2 cents...wishing all a pain free day.. Guest guest
, You should discuss the amount you drink with your physician so that you can be sure it's safe with any meds you may be taking. The study only examined alcohol and the likelihood of developing RA, not alcohol and disease activity. Guest guest
It's great for those that may be able to do it, if the report/study is correct. & nbsp; For those that have to take antidepressants or & nbsp;sedatives, sleeping pills, and heavy pain killers for FMS or RA, it could be rather dangerous as those meds cannot be taken with any alcohol in the system. & nbsp; & nbsp;A couple of years ago, an FMS patient I knew, in her early 30's was prescribed Percocet and it interacted with another medication she took and the next morning she did not wake up and passed away. & nbsp; Alcohol can make several medications more intense in the system From: McNally & lt;McNackscomcast (DOT) net & gt; Subject: Re: [ ] Re:RESEARCH - Alcohol consumption is associated with decreased risk of @gro ups.com Date: Saturday, June 7, 2008, 2:58 PM Hi , I drink too, but in major moderation. Guest guest
Hi : I agree about not all meds. go together, and the results can be deadly. Our drs. and rheumy's know what we can take safely. That is why I have never had any alcohol, wine, beer, etc. as I don't want to risk my life, or destroy my liver.Better to be safe, than sorry. I know you haven't been feeling well, and going through a tough time right now. I am praying for you, and hoping things ease up, and your pain is lessening. It is hard to get through those painfull days, as I well know. I see my Rheumy tomorrow, and get the MRI results of my feet and ankles. LOL...God Bless you . I care. Guest guest
HI Barbara! I miss having an occassional glass of something but the one time I did have something, I didn't even have half a glass of the alcohol and I felt out of it, so stopped and drank a ton of water and haven't made that mistake again:) I have & nbsp;to watch my liver too since its in a hepatitis state for some unknown medical mystery:) Luckily, they do make pretty good non alcoholic drinks!! It's been so humid here and we have had tornado warnings and had to take cover the past two days (I'm terrified of storms). & nbsp; I'm very happy to say that I did not have one panic attack over them! Normally, I lock myself in the bathroom or break out in tears but all I did was grab some flashlights and candles and head to the hall! I got to help babysit my nephew who will be 1 next month! So my energy is a little low, and my pain is flaring but it was so worth it! He was an angel and never cried once and its the longest he's ever been away from his parents! The humidity is so high that its not helping matters either! Good luck at the rheumy tomorrow please let me know how it turns out! Mine phoned on Friday but I missed the call..she phoned right when the sirens told me to take cover!! So I certainly couldn't answer the phone! The storms last night produced 32,000 lightening strikes in one hour. & nbsp; Hopefully she phones me back tomorrow!! I'm praying for you:) From: McNally & amp;lt;McNacks@ comcast. net & amp;gt; Subject: Re: [ ] Re:RESEARCH - Alcohol consumption is associated with decreased risk of @gro ups.com Date: Saturday, June 7, 2008, 2:58 PM Hi , I drink too, but in major moderation.
