Guest guest
I have been on Humira weekly and Methotrexate for years now, with good results. I had a dental cleaning and exam 3 weeks ago and my teeth were great...many compliments. 2 days later I had a huge infection on the side of my gum, and was put on clindamyacin. After 5 days I was not better. I was then put on keflex, and had a bad allergic reaction. I saw my pcp and was then put on erthromyacin. But by then I had terrible diarrhea and stomach pain. The dr. did 2 tests and called me and said I have c diff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clostridium_difficile. He put me on yet another medication, flagyl. He hesitated to do that but feels he cannot risk the abcess worsening with RA meds in my sytstem and their affect on my immune system and the c diff. I am dehydrated. I have horrible pain above my belly button which grows ubtil I cannot catch my breath. I have been off my RA meds 4 weeks as of this next weekend, and my hands are stiffening and my dexterity is bad. I am feeling overwelmed. Has anyone experienced something similar? Thanks... Cheryle aka Tess
Guest guest
HI... I had C-diff many years ago. I remember sleeping in the fetal position because it was so painful. I had been hospitalized because of a yet unknown dx of diverticula disease and colitis. When they discovered I had c-diff, I was isolated in a private room. When I was discharged, i was given Flagyl and told to eat plain yogurt. I have since become allergic to flagyl, getting an all over rash, so I pray that I never get c-diff again. When I have diarhea I joke that I'm happy because I'm tired of nearly passing out each time I have a bowel movement. However, I get the plain yogurt out and mix it with a little bit of banana yogurt just for flavor and it has helped me. This, on top of RA keeps me on my toes. I also have iron def. anemia, low vitamin d, etc....oa, facet, and so on. but no c-diff!!! Guest guest
Tess, I'm so sorry that you're having such a hard time. I have never had this condition, so can't offer much help, except to suggest that you try eating some yogurt every day. I don't know if it will help this condition or not, but it eliminated the explosive diarrhea that metformin used to give me. Are you still writing poetry? We haven't seen one in ages! Guest guest
I am sorry...sometimes it gets so easy to just hit reply. This was your original post. So, how are you feeling? Hopefully this finds you better. Have you tried some plain yogurt?
