Hi Group,

Just clearing out my in box, long overdue:),

and notice some earlier queries about anaemia, and also some of 's valuable

finds in the medical info sites.

Now haematology was my field, but really the whole thing is SO complicated and

multifactorial, that I admire anyone who came away greatly enlightened, rather

than more puzzled, from some of the compressed abstracts and jargon of some of

the articles.

Will try and find some more info, but did come across this from Gateshead trust

UK, produced as local working guidelines only. So just use as a 'pointer'.

Forget the first page, but I thought the flow chart for investigation was quite

clear and helpful. Also the second chart of pathways to follow to investigate

Iron deficiency if this is found. Might help find out where your own anaemia

fits in.

Sometimes in active inflammation, iron stores may be adequate, but unable to be

used because the bone marrow activity is depressed, (often when sed rate ,CRP

are elevated) Haemoglobin often rises slowly but surely when disease acivity is

controlled, providing iron stores and vit levels are adequate.

Just google 'Investigation of anaemia with inflammatory joint disease'

Sorry I'm no good pasting links.
