Wheat seems to be a universal trigger, as many of the nightshade veggies (aka

the yummy veggies, tomatoes is a major one that I have problems with). & nbsp;

They say that low carb dieting helps some people, however I am on it for weight

loss and see no decrease in joint pain.

& nbsp;

I know some people value this idea of triggers but I honestly feel if you didn't

have an issue with a & nbsp;food before RA, it won't make a bunch of difference

now. & nbsp; I have ALWAYS had issues with tomatoes. & nbsp; Many people don't have

" visible " pain with wheat until they already have swelling in their joints and

makes the reaction to the wheat noticable. & nbsp;

& nbsp;

Some people also ache more when there are pressure changes, particularly of that

when it storms, when the pressure is lower. & nbsp; Here at sea level I don't

notice it, but some do...I don't know if being in those mountains of Colorado if

that would change. & nbsp; All I remember about Colorado is my body drying out and

bleeding. & nbsp; My skin cracked, my lips bled, my nose bled, was CONSTANTLY

putting in eye drops, then lets not forget the altitude dizzies once I hit about

9K feet...didn't have time to think about my joints :)

Hello,

I am still new and am trying to figure out what my triggers are. I

live in Colorado so it's almost always dry. This past weekend it has

been raining and damp. All my symptoms skyrocketed. I wonder is this

normal? Will damp weather always cause pain. Does certain food do the

same thing? Does wheat or sushi affect anyone? I'm guessing most of

you have figured this out a long time ago. Thank you, Suz for your

supportive responce to my first message.

Some of the stressors that affect me are changes in weather (I'm in Michigan so

when it gets extremely cold, its bad). Extreme humidity also makes me worse.

Any types of stress make me worse. Over doing things will exacerbate pain. Not

getting enough rest, or eating correctly.

Hi - Grocery shopping is a big trigger because of all of the

walking and standing. Basically if I overdo it, I know I will pay for

it later. Another trigger for me is a drop in barometric pressure.

Last Friday, I did the grocery shopping and was hurting pretty bad

after. I layed down to rest for a while and dozed off. A thunderstorm

rolled through and woke me up out of a deep sleep in worse pain than

before. I felt like there was something in my joints trying to

explode. I felt like I could have been in that movie " Alien " - only

the RA inflammation was the alien.

I'm still trying to get my RA stabilized and some days wonder if it

will never happen. Best of luck to you :)

hi, . I can predict the weather better than Doppler radar. it

is a talent I wish I didn't have. I ache and my hands and fingers and

wrists swell and are painfull 24 hours before rain arrives. today was

bright and clear and I hurt very badly; I cannot enjoy the beautiful

weather, because tomorrow it will rain. I will feel GREAT tomorrow,

when it is nasty outside. my kids tell me I should have been a

duck...gentle hugs! Marcia, on the southern shore of the Great Lake

Ontario = western New York State
