Guest guest
I thought I had better update myself. Went to Dr yesterday. She told me I am moderately dehydrated and to stop drinking pop. instead she said Gatoraid or Poweraid or Pedialyte and to try eating " BRAT " which made me laugh. I was thinking " Bratwursts? What is she thinking!? " but she meant Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. Those are staying down and she prescribed phenergan for nausea and vomiting prevention. That is better but the diarrhea is still an amazing power of nature! Today was when my husband was to go to the pain mgmt Dr and i wasn't able to go with him. Guest guest
Dalanne, So glad to know that you are getting better. I hadn't even thought to ask about what you were hydrating with. Good to know your doctor is on the ball! Take care and I hope it is all gone soon. I hope your husband's office visit goes well also. Shirley > [ ] Re: When to contact Dr with a virus or bacteria? Guest guest
update from Dalanne: hubbys appt went well, i wasn't able to go. He has a monitor that he will wear for a month. Seems to be adapting to it, though. yesterday was his pain mgmt appt. That Dr. told him to throw the lodine away and gave him something stronger. He is to go Friday afternoon to get a new CT scan as the last one was 7 yrs ag. Dr. thinks hubby may have more damage or else deteriorating discs. if it isn't one thing then it's another! Welcome to my circus! I upchucked yesterday and today too. Geez but this is getting old. i am drinking as much as i can stand which is probably still less than i should be. We are still watching to make sure i don't get dyhydrated any more than i already am. Dr. gave me fenergin, no i can't spell it, for the nausea and when it is in my system i am better but not when i sleep. The med really makes me loopy and punchdrunk. At least i begged off work til monday. > > > > I thought I had better update myself. Went to Dr yesterday. Guest guest
Dalanne, It is good that your hubby got something stronger to help. Seems when it rains, it pours. Please get all of the rest that you can between now and Monday. I sure hope you are a different person by then. Phenergan makes me loopy too. My prayers and well wishes are with both of you. Guest guest
I may have turned the corner on Saturday as I didn't upchuck at all. Diarrhea was still present. I am so SICK of Powerade and 7-up! Bananas & applesauce...I may never eat them again. I needed to take the kids to church today but I slept thru the alarm and the kids let me sleep till noon. I really needed the rest. Not having regular food, oh my gosh, the cravings I was having and am having! I couldn't take it when I got up....had some BBQ with a baked potatoe and sour cream. Figured if that didn't jumpstart my digestive system nothing would. Since I haven't been able to flush this illness out then I'll push it out with solid food! Seems to be working so far. No more diarrhea but boy...the gas has been impressive! I'm excited to be taking my medications again, too. Never thought i'd say that! I was suffering withdrawl from my antidepressant and that was distinctly unpleasant. By tomorrow the shakes and jitters should be gone. At least I hope so as I have to go to work tomorrow. On top of all this I make a call Mon. evening to see if I have to report Tues a.m. for JURY DUTY! How's that for a stress topper! I have to laugh. My guardian angel must be close to having a heart attack if he's been keeping up with me and my family's issues the last week or two! 8-) Oh well. If I have to report Tuesday maybe I can manage to vomit one more time on the judge so i can get out of jury duty. Dalanne Shake your family tree and watch the nuts fall!
