Guest guest
Hello all, I started taking mtx 2 months ago and am finally starting to see some improvement in how I feel. My question is this? I know a rash is a possible side effect to mtx but what about itching without a rash? Also, I was working in the yard this weekend (hooray!) and got 2 ant bites. I've never had trouble with ant bites before but my reaction to these was extreme. Very painful and now I have 2 red, itchy welts about as big as a half dollar. We are pretty sure they were not fire ants. I can't find any information on the internet. Does anyone know if the " less able to fight off infection " piece of mtx also mean " less able to fight off insect bites " ? Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Not very scientific, just my observation...but I react more to little cuts and scrapes, and yes bug bites, since the RA started. It's as if my inflammatory response is in overdrive. More redness, more puffiness at the site and it takes longer to heal. I saw this for the few months it took to get diagnosed and before I was put on the mtx. So it may or may not be drug related. > > Hello all, > I started taking mtx 2 months ago and am finally starting to see some > improvement in how I feel. > My question is this? Guest guest
, Great to know that you are feeling better and the MTX is working. This group was great to instruct me to keep first aide supplies handy just for bites and stings. I have recently developed an allergy to tape. Now my first aide includes paper tape. It is just one of the things that can change with us. Guest guest
and group; I broke out in hives that itched horrable with mexotrexate. I cant speak for anything else about MXT. Except I seem to be allergic to everything. I was real happy not to be allergic to plaqunil and the sulfazaline. I hope I am not allergic to the humira I get tomorrow. I am leaving for the docs in about 45 minutes So I am going to read my post. I have about 50 lol. Lot of the post are well wishers so it usuallly goes pretty fast. Unless I start answering them all haaaaaaaaaaaaa. I do have a question. Since I been taking sulfazaline and plagqunil, The bottom of my feet and hands are broke out with ecxema. I have ecxema but never this bad. Has anyone had this problem with plaqunil and/or sulfazaline? The reason I ask is i ran out of my meds for a few days and the ecxema cleared up. Plaqunil and sulfazaline has never helped the RA pain anyway. THe prednisone is great but I go off of it in a few days. gentle hugs everyone Clora
