Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation Assistant Professor - Kinesiology - Physical Activity and Nutrition Rank and Salary: The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation is recruiting a highly motivated individual who will bring strengths in research, teaching, and service to support the Department's programs. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, tenure track appointment beginning Fall semester 2012. Summer employment is contingent on student demand and funding. Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, Biology, or related field is required at the time of appointment. A candidate for the position should have a publication record in the area of physical activity and nutrition and be able to teach advanced physical activity and nutrition courses. A successful candidate will have the ability to mentor graduate students pursuing a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology or a Ph.D. in Biology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology, in the Department of Biological Sciences. The selected candidate will be able to generate competitive proposals for external support to pursue exercise physiology research that examines the interactions of physical activity and nutrition on health, body composition, and energy balance. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in postdoctoral positions in externally funded laboratories. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach one to two organized classes per long semester, conduct a focused line of research, and seek external funding to support that research and mentor graduate students in the Department's Master of Science in Kinesiology and collaborative Ph.D. in Biology programs. Other assignments may include advising students and serving on Department, College, or University committees, and participating in periodic program review and assessments.
