Guest guest
Vicki, I had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand the end of February. Prior to the surgery I was up on and off all night with my arm (not just my hand) throbbing. I had gotten to a point where I was pretty miserable. The surgery made a great difference. Right away the throbbing and numbness was gone. After the stitches were removed I started physical therapy. I used silicone patches on the scar which helped soften the scar tissue. My hand is still much weaker than prior to the surgery. The area on the inside of the palm near the thumb still has some tenderness. All in all it was well worth it. I wasn't laid up long at all. The day of the surgery I stayed in bed and most of the next day as well (it was a weekend anyway). I was up and around - not using the hand - after that. The stitches were in for 10 days. Then it was limited activity for the next 4 weeks. But to be honest I pretty much resumed everything. Good luck! --
Guest guest
I've had partial tears in both my achilles tendons over the past couple of years. I was told that the RA weakens the tendons. I had to go to physical therapy both times to get it to heal. I've changed my shoes to those with much more support which helped - the PT sent me to a special shoe store. Guest guest
Thank those of you who answered my questions regarding Achilles Tendonosis and Carpal Tunnel. I saw the hand doctor today and scheduled surgery for my right hand. When that heals, I'll have my left one done. It's good to know that you got relief from the surgery. As for the Achilles Tendonosis, I saw that doctor today as well. According to him, there isn't much left to do (I have already had physical therapy and orthotics, plus I wore an immobilizer for a month the last time I went) except surgery. He said that unless I " just couldn't stand it " he would not recommend surgery. The surgery takes a long time to heal and would amount to about six to eight months recover. I don't have time for that right now . guess it's not bad enough yet! Thanks again for the information. Happy and healthy days for you all.
