Hi everyone!

I have a 2 year old Chipoo therapy dog (she is my first small dog ever) and she

has been acting a little odd the past couple of weeks.  She is eating fine, her

nose is cold, she is still rambunctious.  She gets out in the yard and runs

around in her circles faster than a greyhound.  Yet, she is whiney off and on

(though it's gotten better than it was the first week).  She sits between

cushions so she has something sheltering her.  She has a stuffed elephant and

two stuffed moose.  She carries them around every where to lay down with her.

She snuggles up to them and goes to sleep.  She even takes them under the covers

with her and can't be in a room without them.  She's not ever done this before

even though she went thru a stage where she played with them all the time.  Now

she cannot be without them.  I was going to call the vet but I didn't want them

to think I'm crazy!! I hope you all don't either! I'm just a little worried

about her being

whiney.  I don't have any experience with small dogs at all and she hasn't ever

done this in the two years I've had her..I've only just had black labs in my

lifetime...My doctor thought maybe she is lonely but we have 2 other dogs she

plays with. She doesn't like small dogs, she barks at them and chases them out

of the  yard.  I just thought I would check to see if anyone else's small dog

ever goes through anything like this.  I've been googling away but am having no

luck finding anything!

It sounds like a cute little dog. The little critter has lots of energy to

burn because of it's breeds so that's why she's doing the outdoors thing.

She can do well sometimes playing with her toys, but needs to burn off

energy. One of my dogs is like that, so I sometimes have her chase a red

lazer light around the room as I point it. Maybe yours will respond to that

sort of thing.

Thank you so much Dennis!

My uncle gave me one of those laser lights to send home with my aunt for her cat

but we forgot to send it with her.  My 1 year old nephew was visiting and cranky

and we started shining the light on the ceiling from the laser and he loved it!

He just giggles and laughs til he gets the hiccups.  We discovered, the chipoo

Bella likes it too! She runs at it, bites at it and chases it in circles which

makes my nephew laugh harder.  He has now learned to turn the laser light on all

by himself and is trying to figure out now how to aim it so Bella can see it and

chase it! I never knew dogs could like those little lights so mucH!

I should have mentioned it already, but don't shine it in the eyes of

anyone! It can burn them in seconds. Also break up the routine so it's not

expected. When that happens, they will get bored, kids or dogs.

peanut is kinda the same. he cries for everything but is very protected towards

me &

my daughter, alyssa. when she leaves for school he cries at the window watching

her leave. then immediately he comes right to granma, snuggling up as close to me

as he can. peanut also has his certain toys he plays with & he loves them, he

has one to bite on & one we throw to him, to fitch & believe u me he runs.

he loves to play, run, & bark as if he's sooooooo BIG. i think it's soooo CUTE!! i

can say for my dog he does get a lil lonely cuz i can't take him for walks throw

things to him due to my physical disability & now with a broken arm nada... i

can give him alll my love & believe it or not peanut knows that i'm sick, he

guards me at all times............. he will lay with me on the bed & wants

nothing but loving.if i stop rubbing peanut he gets his lilpaws so that i will
