Guest guest
, I always thought that the Paleo Diet was like the Raw Food Diet but with raw meat. I'm learning something new every day. If the Paleo diet eliminates grains, do you still eat bread-like foods at all? I've been reading where you can make flour out of ground up beans. Do you do anything like that? Do you use dairy? Cow's milk? The second link you listed I have read before. It is VERY interesting. My story is much like the 43 year-old woman as far as symptoms go. I also like the part that says, " By this time you might be asking yourself why your rheumatologist doesn't know this stuff. A better question is why don't you know this stuff? You're the one that has arthritis. " Chapter 2 kinda tells you why our doctors don't treat us the way we wish they would. I believe it. Recently my brother watched an old movie " Sister Kenny " with lind . It was about an Australian bush-nurse that was the first to develop and use " hot packs " (rags of wool dipped in boiling water and then completely wrung out until dry) to treat the muscle spasms of polio victims instead of the recommended splints and casts which left them paralyzed. At first, the medical community was totally against her until they realized that her treatments were working. They actually called her " an ignorant quack " . It's interesting that actor Alan Alda of M.A.S.H. had polio and was a patient of her treatment. I'd be appreciative of any other info you'd be willing to share about your use of the Paleo diet. [ ] Re: More about Diet (was...Drs always saying arthritis...) this link discusses the role of lectins in RA. this diet keeps me off painkillers and cortisone. http://www.thepaleodiet.com/articles/Arthritis%20PDF.pdf this guy used an elimination diet to fffigure out his trigger foods and now controls RA solely with diet: http://www.frot.co.nz/dietnet/reviews/mcferran01.htm none of the meds worked for him. monique
