Hello all,

Joined the group a bit ago, but a veteran to RA.  I've been doing so well for

years now, except for a slow healing leg ulcer.  That ended about 2 wks ago.  I

got a strange virus that hung on for days, school is beginning (I am a 3rd grade

tchr) and my ex has been relentless in his personal attacks on me.  I guess my

body said enough.  I started to hurt about 2 wks ago, then last wkend...the

swelling set in.  The hands looked blown up with an air pump.  My hips ache- and

I've never had hip pain and my right side of my jaw is sore.  Th hands have just

crippled me so.  i type now with one finger that doesn't hurt.  I went to rheum

on Friday.  I got an hr and 1/2 IV infusion of solumedrol (prednisone) Saturday

had a horrible headache, but hands looked and felt better.  Today..not much sign

of that help still being present.  Hands are hot and swollen and hurt, hurt,

hurt.  We aren't sure what to add because of the ulcer.  Pulled off humira due

to severe upper respiratory infections.  Has anyone tried Orencia?  Let me

know.  Also...if you could pray for some relief, I'd so appreciate it.

Hugs,

Beth in MD

thanks Shirley.  If I try to go back to work earlier I thought I'd save my bad

days for the weekend to recoup.  Paris

Hi Paris,

Call the nurse at your rheummy's office.. She will let you know how

to change days. My Dr.'s nurse always checks with her before she

tells me anything, but never minds my calling with concerns.

Yesterday my rheummy told me, it is OK to do the blood work bi-

monthly. This is after all of this time that I have been going

monthly. I guess as long as the blood work is OK, 2mos is fine.

I truly am glad that the MTX is helping so much.

Take care, Sweetie.

I have bad days.  Achy days.  I call them Hangover days.  I guess

I'm glad to hear that 's part of the medicine.  Do you know what I

would need to do if I wanted to switch taking in on Sun to Friday?

I plan on asking my dr but apt not until Oct.

issues etc.  The folic acid keeps the mouthsores away and when I did

get one I doubled the folic acid till it was gone.  I get my blood

test every two mths....should I ask for every month?

been on it for almost 3 months.
